I'm a New Mom Carrying More Junk Than I Can Imagine, and These Bags Have Changed My Life

While I'm only six months into my lifelong career as a mother, I've gone through a number of different purse trends in my attempt to acclimate. I've resisted the diaper bag entirely and used just the storage underneath the stroller, ultimately paying the price big time when my daughter had a blowout and I didn't have a change of clothes stowed away, and I've gone the other side of the spectrum and carried bags that were too big and yanked at my neck, ultimately always getting in the way. Then I started carrying my essentials - wallet, keys, phone, snacks - in waist bags and everything changed.

Before you wave them off as your grandmother's fanny pack, waist belts are chic and useful, and they can honestly be flattering when you use them to cinch the waist and create a silhouette. This isn't a place to stow your kid's baby wipes; this is for you so you can keep your hands free.
