Caitriona Balfe's Dress Starts Out Simple, but Just You Wait Until You See the Skirt
The Golden Globes red carpet wasn't short on dramatic gowns with unusual silhouettes, from Lady Gaga's voluminous periwinkle confection to Janelle Monáe's double-layered, armored design. But one star who really pushed the boat out when it comes to proportions was Caitriona Balfe. After wowing us in a her formfitting Chanel number from last year, this time around, the Outlander star wore a custom gown by Moschino with a heavily exaggerated burgundy velvet tulip skirt. The fullness at the hips meant the dress had plenty of room for pockets, which we all know is the red carpet dream.
With such an eye-catching gown, Caitriona quite rightly kept her accessories simple, skipping the big jewels in favor of some '90s-inspired hair clips. Her black satin bag came complete with a prominent "Time's Up" ribbon, in support of the continued campaign for safe, fair, and dignified workplaces for women. The four-time nominee may not have been successful when it came to winning a Golden Globe this year, but she definitely won when it comes to taking style risks. Keep reading for a closer look at her gown and that very important accessory.
