Dad Spent 5 Hours Building a Handicap-Accessible Igloo So His 2 Kids Who Use Wheelchairs Could Play

After a snowy day in Cincinnati, Gregg Eichhorn and his kids were playing outside when the dad of eight got the idea to build an igloo. But not just any igloo - one that would be handicap-accessible so his two kids who use wheelchairs, 19-year-old Zahara and 9-year-old Elijah, could play inside it as well.
"The kids and I were discussing, while we were throwing snow around, that we should make something handicap-accessible so Zahara and Elijah could use it," Gregg told Good Morning America after photos of his igloo made the rounds on Reddit. "The kids jumped in and helped for a couple of minutes here and there as we built it."
Five hours later, with the help of his sister Sarah, Gregg had built a massive igloo that Zahara and Elijah could wheel into, which also included a second-floor snowball deck. Gregg's kids - all eight of whom have special needs and were adopted by him and his wife, Katie - were excited about the igloo, which Gregg said was totally worth the time spent building.
"Zahara lights up with any attention, so she was excited to go outside and have people out there with her," he said about his daughter, who has cerebral palsy. He added of Elijah, who has cortical vision impairment in addition to using a wheelchair: "When he went in the fort, his eyes opened instantly and you could see he was processing what was going on as he was surrounded by white. It was very special to see him process that."
