If This Underwater Villa in the Maldives Isn't on Your Bucket List, You're Doing It Wrong
Still piecing together your 2019 travel bucket list? Then boy oh boy, do we have a worthy addition for you. The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island hotel finally opened its highly anticipated underwater villa at the end of 2018, and it's just as breathtaking as you'd imagine.
Dubbed the Muraka (which translates to "coral" in the local Maldivian language), the submerged suite features two levels and can sleep a total of nine people. The above-water portion houses a bedroom and bathroom with panoramic windows, an outer deck with an infinity pool, a kitchen, and a dining area. Meanwhile, 16 feet directly below, the underwater level boasts a king-sized bed, living area, and bathroom with up-close-and-personal views of coral and fish living in the Indian Ocean. *Cue "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid*
Of course, an extravagant accommodation like this calls for quite the steep price tag. One night's stay in the Muraka suite will cost you about $50,000. If you're ballin' on a budget but still want to live our your Princess Ariel dreams, we suggest checking out the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island's Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, which offers visitors a dining experience like no other.
Keep reading to admire the bi-level Muraka suite in all its one-of-a-kind glory. Now, who's down to lend me $50,000?
