Kristin Ess's Newest Hair Mask Smells and Feels Expensive (but We Promise You It’s Not)
Kristin Ess is a magic-maker - just take a look at this dreamy hairstyle she created on one of her celeb BFFs, Lauren Conrad. In 2017, she did us a solid by giving us the tools and tonics to get A-list hair at an affordable price, but we think her most recent additions to her line are probably her best ones yet.
Ess released a scalp care collection, a set of five products that are meant to restore the health in that area. A combination of this Winter's harsh cold air and my scalp's typical dryness made me reach for the new Kristin Ess Weightless Hydration Daily Scalp and Hair Mask ($14).
Everything from its forest green packaging to its scent is elegant. It's so luxurious, I feel like the richest person in the world when I massage the thick, creamy mask onto my scalp. You might wonder how you can work something so emollient past your hair to reach the skin underneath, but Ess thought of everything: she packaged the mask with a nozzle tip that allows you to part your hair and easily apply it straight to your scalp. It took a few minutes and a little muscle to work the cream from my scalp to the ends of my hair. Once I did, I let it sit there for 10 minutes before rinsing it out and then air-drying my hair.
It seemed to have done the trick in quelling the itchiness of my scalp, but what I didn't expect was how well it moisturized my hair texture, defining every kink and curl. By the time my hair dried, I was left with undone, beachy waves that smelled like a French parfumerie - and made me feel like the extra b*tch that I am.
