Meghan Markle's Outfit Is Office-Appropriate, but Her Shoes Are Something Else Entirely
On Thursday morning, Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess of Sussex would be taking on four new patronages, and she wasted no time in getting to work supporting her new causes. Meghan stepped out soon after for a visit to Smart Works, an organization that provides coaching and interview clothing to long-term unemployed and vulnerable women. With her patronage, Meghan joins a number of famous faces from the world of fashion, including designer Betty Jackson and Jane Shepherdson, who was instrumental in turning Topshop into the global Goliath it is today.
The heart of Smart Works is its two-hour dressing and coaching service, which Meghan has been able to see firsthand. Given its close links to fashion and the importance of a confidence-building work wardrobe, it's no surprise that Meghan seemed to have thought carefully about what she chose to wear for her first official visit as patron.
The pregnant duchess opted for a sleek shift dress by maternity brand Hatch Collection ($218) that definitely suited the occasion (we're copying this for our next interview), teamed with a beige cotton swing coat by Oscar de la Renta ($2,990) and accessorized with the trendy Kimai Felicity earring ($403). But it's when you look down that things get really interesting. On her feet, Meghan wore a pair of cow print heels with transparent panels that were definitely an unexpected addition to this otherwise timeless look.
It seems like Meghan's had these Gianvito Rossi shoes for a while, as she first gave us a glimpse of them back when her Instagram account was still active. They give this classic look a modern spin, reminding us that Meghan's never afraid to experiment with her look. Take a closer look at her entire outfit ahead.
