When Kate Middleton Goes Gardening, Even Her Earrings Have to Fit the Theme

The Duchess of Cambridge knows a thing or two about dressing appropriately for the occasion, so it's no surprise that when she took a trip to Islington, London, to visit the King Henry's Walk Garden, an award-winning community green space, she wore an outfit that was perfect for getting stuck into a spot of gardening. But this is the wife of the future king we're talking about, so this was a gardening outfit with a twist. After all, how many of us put on our best diamond earrings when we're planting bulbs?

For her trip back to nature (and a spot of al fresco pizza-making), Kate didn't skimp on details. As well as those Kiki McDonough earrings (which are leaf-shaped, in keeping with the occasion), she opted for a fitted funnel neck tweed coat by Dubarry, a burgundy knit sweater, army green skinny jeans, and a pair of lace-up suede ankle boots. On previous engagements that required this kind of "country chic" look, Kate's almost always whipped out her beloved Penelope Chivers knee-high boots. But perhaps that decade-old design is finally ready to be replaced? These new See By Chloe boots, which the duchess wore with the laces tied low on the ankle, were a much more modern update and had a little something in common with a pair of suede Stuart Weitzman boots that her sister-in-law sported toward the end of last year. Keep reading for a closer look and to shop Kate's look for yourself.
