Hostess Is Releasing a Line of Iced Lattes That Taste Like Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and More
Iced coffee season is nearly upon us, and Hostess's new line of dessert-themed lattes is making me crave both caffeine and cake. Inspired by the snacks I used to beg my parents to buy me on trips to the grocery store as a child, the ready-to-drink flavored iced lattes come in Twinkie, Ding Dong, Honey Bun, and Sno Ball flavors. Do I expect these drinks to be cloyingly sweet and taste super artificial? Yes. Am I still going to be hitting up the chilled drinks section at my local grocery store ASAP? Also yes.
The Twinkie Iced Latte combines the taste of the classic yellow sponge cake with notes of cream, while the Honey Bun Iced Latte combines the sweetness of honey with hints of glazed icing. For my fellow chocolate-lovers, the Ding Dongs Iced Latte is a mixture of rich chocolate flavoring and vanilla, while the Sno Balls Iced Latte is a take on chocolate cake and coconut. Currently available for $2 per 13.7-ounce bottle at select stores in the Northeast, the drinks are expected to hit stores nationwide soon.
