24 Times Samantha Jones Stole the Style Spotlight From Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City
Kim Cattrall is 60 this weekend, and in our opinion, she's as sexy as ever. We're still convinced that she is Samantha Jones (not a bad thing), so it wouldn't be a true birthday celebration without a closer look at her iconic Sex and the City character's wardrobe. Sure, we've salivated over Carrie's city-girl outfits and were smitten with Charlotte's posh Upper East Sider wares, but a lot of the time, it was Samantha Jones's unforgettably sultry style that left a lasting impression.
This was one woman who lived for color, statement jewels, oversize hats, and a plunging neckline. We have to admit: Kim knows how to fully commit to a character. She was never afraid to bare more than a little skin and go the distance as Samantha, which is why we're still inspired by her power suits, slinky cocktail dresses, bold costume jewelry, and sky-high heels. After you're done scrolling through our favorite scene-stealing style moments courtesy of Samantha Jones, channel your favorite fictional character in these outfits.
This Is What a Muffin-Bagel Looks Like
Buckle up and get ready to head to Brooklyn, NY, foodies, because the guy who brought us the Rainbow Bagel is back with his latest creation and it looks incredible. First came the Rainbow Bagel, then the Oreo bagel, and now, we present you with the Mufgel! The Mufgel is the love child of a muffin and a bagel and was conceived at The Bagel Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It's the latest mashup from Scot Rossillo, proving once again that he is the Picasso of bagels. With a crunchy top like a muffin and a chewy, bagel-like bottom, this trend is about to take over your Instagram feed.
The Mufgel comes in different flavors, including a Fruity Pebbles Mufgel, Chocolate Chip Crumb Mufgel, Mozzarella Cheese Pizza Mufgel, and so many more, each with a suggested cream cheese paired to perfection. The flavors are changed regularly, but you're going to have to wake up early to get yours, as they're guaranteed to sell out before closing time. Ironically enough, Rossillo came up with the idea after listening to a commercial making fun of hybrid food crazes, but he used the joke to his advantage and came up with the latest social media sensation. We can all agree that the crazy food combinations aren't stopping any time soon, and this is just the beginning for the Bagel Store! Check out some of the latest drool-worthy Mufgel photos.
Kim Kardashian Explains Why She Doesn't "Label Herself" a Feminist in a Fairly Confusing Essay
Kim Kardashian is at the center of a debate this week, but this time it isn't about nude Instagram photos or exposing Taylor Swift on Snapchat. Kim has long eschewed the idea of being "labeled a feminist" and most recently spoke on the topic during the #BlogHer16 conference in LA. When asked about her stance, Kim revealed that while she is "so supportive of women" and wants them to "be confident," she isn't a "free-the-nipple type of girl." The backlash was swift - and much like she did to clarify her thoughts on the Black Lives Matter movement, Kim took to her blog on Monday to elaborate on and explain her comments. Read her open letter below.
"For me, a feminist is someone who advocates for the civil and social rights and liberties of all people, regardless of their gender; anyone who believes that women should have the same choices and opportunities as men when it comes to education and employment, their bodies and their lifestyles.
Of course I want these things! I'm all about empowering and uplifting women. Obviously, there are things about me that people might say make me a feminist: I work hard, I make my own money, I'm comfortable and confident in my own skin, and I encourage women to be open and honest about their sexuality, and to embrace their beauty and their bodies.
But why do we have to put labels on things? You're Republican, you're Democrat, you're bisexual, you're plus-size, you're poor, you're a criminal, you're a mother, you're a feminist. I'm a human being, and I have thoughts, feelings and opinions about a lot of different things. I don't need to be defined by those beliefs, just as much as I don't want to be set apart from - or viewed as being against - those who DO define themselves by those beliefs."
Everything You Need to Know About Victoria Beckham’s First Makeup Line
The poshest former Spice Girl and fashion label owner Victoria Beckham is launching a limited-edition makeup line with Estée Lauder. Fans of Victoria Beckham will be happy to hear the offering has the same cool-girl aesthetic. Vogue chatted with Victoria about this launch for the September issue (on national newsstands Aug. 23), and here's what we know so far:
Everything is launching on Sept. 13 at esteelauder.com.
There are 14 pieces in the capsule collection, and the products are inspired by four cities: London, Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. "I'm a bit of a chameleon," she told Vogue. "I do change my look - not just my fashion - depending on where I am in the world and how I'm dressing."
Victoria created groupings of up to eight products that are each themed around the four cities. Los Angeles (which she considers to be her second home) is about the fresh-faced SoCal feel, London is edgier with a rock-'n'-roll vibe, New York focuses on statement color, and Paris is the most sophisticated and fashion-forward group.
Expect lipsticks, eye shadows, matte bronzers, and an illuminating primer. "I don't want a red-red," Victoria said of the lipstick. Instead Vogue reports that she chose a matte, orange-based tone, and she described it as "a bit younger, a bit fresher, more modern."
Eye shadows range from a metallic black to a shimmery nude and a "beetle's-wing emerald" (as Vogue described it). The formulas can be applied wet or dry, which is modern technology that brands like NARS and Urban Decay have experimented with.
The luminizing primer is packaged in a 1950s-inspired fluter bottle. It gives a nod to the Lauder archives with Victoria's spin on it. The cream formula doubles as a brightening primer and tightening moisturizer. "Who doesn't love that?" she enthused in this accompanying Vogue.com feature.
Also, the style icon has been hoarding makeup ind mixing it on her own since she was 18! Sounds like this was a long time coming. "It was really about not compromising and creating pieces that I wanted to wear myself," she said in Vogue.
While this is the first time Victoria is taking on makeup with a major brand, she did recently collaborate with Nails Inc. on a polish collection.
See a video Victoria created for Vogue.com, creatively dubbed "Blend It Like Beckham." And stay tuned for images of the chic products!
This Is Not a Drill! New Urban Decay Naked Palette With 12 Matte Shades Is Coming
On Sunday, August 14, Urban Decay posted a photo on Instagram featuring a woman with rose gold hair and a stunning, sandy-hued smoky eye. The caption read: "You asked for it..."
UD's founder Wende Zomnir wrote the first two comments, explaining the mystery post. She said, "The ultimate range of matte neutrals. Done the Naked way. 12 all new exclusive shades of eye shadow." Yes, this is real: there is a brand-new Urban Decay Naked Palette, and it's coming soon!
Come September 18, UD will release the Naked Ultimate Basics Palette ($55, at urbandecay.com), featuring 12 new eye shadows. All of the shades are matte (a big trend for Fall), except for one demi-matte, because strobing! The formula and texture are meant to be buttery and blend easily. Each one is exclusive in the luxe, gold, square package. This is a unique shape for the Naked family, which typically comes in rectangular palettes. It also contains a mirror and the dual-ended blending-and-smudger brush so you can get that true smoke effect.
According to the press release, "Wende can't get enough of Extra Bitter (a beautiful burnt orange that's destined for cult status) and Lethal (a unique reddish brown)." We're pumped to try Instinct (a medium-taupe matte), which looks like the ideal neutral '90s mauve hue to complement the Kylie Lip Kit look. Pre-Game (a pale yellow matte) and Magnet (a smoky gray matte) look like fresh, fun colors to get creative with.
While you have to wait almost a month (ugh!) to get your hands on this piece of heaven, you can see a first look at each shade and the packaging here.
Natalie Portman Wore the Trendiest Dress of Summer on Date Night
Natalie Portman has been promoting her latest film A Tale of Love & Darkness in New York City, but that doesn't mean there's no time for date night. The actress joined her husband Benjamin Millepied for a bite following an afterparty event, and she wore quite the fashionable outfit. Toting along her quilted Dior bag and sporting the same strappy silver heels she wore to the premiere hours earlier, Natalie glowed.
But it was her breezy white dress, complete with embroidery and two ties at the sleeves, that stole our hearts. Admit it: you've probably been looking for a tunic like this one all Summer long. After all, it's the bishop sleeves and bows that make a piece like this one feel "very 2016" and not at all outdated. Read on for a few different angles, then shop the dress you forgot to buy. Trust, there's still time to wear it.
How Your Favorite Chefs Make Flan
When it comes to desserts, flan, like cake, is one that deserves a category all on its own. Although often labor-intensive, it's a treat that many agree is truly worth the wait. A rich and filling take on custard, the jiggly sweet is a staple across Latin America, prompting many chefs to put their own spin on the classic to make a recipe truly their own. Here are five ways your favorite Latino kitchen whizzes are whipping up delicious flan.
Roberto Santibañez: Simple and Straightforward
Robert Santibañez knows that sometimes it's best to keep a simple take when putting a spin on a classic dessert. His flan recipe is still a comforting eggy-based one with a smooth caramel topping and a light touch of cinnamon and citrus. In addition to the usual suspects of cream, sugar, and eggs, Santibañez's recipe includes lime juice, lime and orange zest, and Mexican cinnamon for an added kick.
Jose Garces: With Vanilla and Orange
Jose Garces's thick and creamy vanilla orange flan is a longtime family recipe, with unique ingredients to boot. Featuring melon, basil, olive oil, and salt, this one is sure to be a crowd-pleaser if served alongside fruit or a salad.
Chef Pépin: With Kahlúa and Coffee
Chef Pépin's Kahlúa and coffee flan is sure to be favored by java addicts. Made with the famed liqueur, decaf coffee, and espresso, this one-of-a-kind recipe will leave you happily buzzed.
Marcela Valladolid: Chocolate-Based
Marcela Valladolid's chocoflan recipe is sure to procure some newfound flan-lovers who are normally chocolate loyalists. This flan and cocoa hybrid involves mixing and baking two separate batters that are later married into one fabulous dessert garnished with cajeta (a thick caramel sauce) and pecans.
Ingrid Hoffman: Cheesecake-Inspired
Ingrid Hoffman's cheesecake flan is definitely for those who love a rich and creamy dessert. Similar to traditional cheesecake, this recipe can be stored and refrigerated for up to three days before serving at the perfect consistency. It is also best prepared in individual ramekins.

8 Outfits You'll Regret Not Trying in Your 20s
You know what they say: youth is wasted on the young. Sometimes, so are great outfits. When you're 25, you forget that you won't be 25 forever and that wearing a crop top won't always look so cool. Your 45-year-old self would probably slap you for thinking you look "fat" in those shorts or can't pull off those over-the-knee boots. So, in honor of making the most of your youth and your wardrobe, we've put together a short list of looks to try right now. You'll thank us later - we promise.
The 6 Most Memorable Family Moments From the Olympics
During the coverage of this Summer's Olympics, we've been watching the USA athletes crushing it event after event. And though we love watching Simone Biles flipping effortlessly across the floor and Michael Phelps gliding smoothly past his competition in the pool (and in total medal count), some of the most memorable moments of this year's Games involved the loved ones of the athletes going for gold.
Scroll through to read about a few of the families who deserve gold medals for the support they give the world's athletes.
Queen Rania Basically Just Wore Her Beach Dress to the Office
Before you jet off on that final Summer vacation, we're sure you plan on taking care of unfinished business. Queen Rania has just the outfit. She attended a meeting with the National Committee For Human Resources Development in Jordan, showing off her sophisticated, yet weather-appropriate style. Just like the embroidered blouse she wore days before, her printed shirtdress was lightweight for the season.
But Queen Rania proves that with the addition of leather accessories, like a thin belt and statement bag, your look appears all the more tidy. Scroll to zoom in on her delicate gold jewels and the pattern on her dress - which is casual enough to double as a beach caftan later on - then shop these royally approved workwear essentials.
Harry Potter Fans, J.K. Rowling Is Blessing Us With a Collection of Short Stories

Short Stroies From Hogwarts: Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists: This ebook will feature old and new writing about Harry's potions master Horace Slughorn and details about the Azkaban prison.
Short Stories From Hogwarts: Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies: This one will focus on the Hogwarts staff, including Remus Lupin and Minerva McGonagall.

Family Circle Wants to Know Who Makes a Better Cookie, Melania or Hillary
Hillary Clinton shocked the country in 1992 when she said she "could have stayed home and baked cookies," but she chose to pursue her law career instead. This statement inspired Family Circle, a food and family magazine with 16 million monthly readers, to throw a First Lady Cookie Competition. The wives of each presidential candidate submitted an original recipe to be baked by magazine subscribers and eventually voted on for a winner. It was a widespread success, and the magazine has made it a tradition. It's something many avid American bakers look forward to each election, including myself! With Hillary Clinton running as president in 2016, this year's cookie competition is posing to be a little awkward - that is, unless you know the history behind the competition.
Rather than pitting Melania Trump against Bill Clinton, the magazine opted to rename the cookie-off as well as Hillary Clinton's recipe to something more gender neutral: the Presidential Cookie Poll and Clinton Family's Chocolate Chip Cookies. Perhaps Family Circle made the conscious decision to not include Mr. Clinton in the competition after Huffington Post exposed his oatmeal cookie recipe, submitted in the 2008 Presidential Bake-Off, as a direct copy from the Betty Crocker Cookbook. Talk about troublesome!
As a result, this year's contenders are Melania Trump's Star Cookies, a sugar cutout cookie enriched with egg yolk and sour cream, and Clinton Family's Chocolate Chip Cookies, an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie that Hillary submitted in the '92 and '96 First Lady Cookie Competitions. If it's making a comeback for the third time, it must be that good.
While I'm disappointed Bill Clinton didn't directly participate in this year's cookie competition, I have a work-around. In 2012, I tried both Ann Romney and Michelle Obama's cookies and even created a bipartisan cookie, meshing the two recipes together. I'm thinking Bill Clinton star balloon cookies are in order . . .
Exclusive! See Swatches of Too Faced's Merry Macaron Palette
Too Faced started blowing the minds and stealing the hearts of beauty-loving foodies everywhere when it launched its cocoa-infused (and -scented) bronzer in 2012. From there, the brand moved on to chocolaty compacts and peachy keen products. Now, for its limited-edition holiday palette with Ulta Beauty, Too Faced is giving us a vanilla-fragranced, macaron-themed palette.
Merry Macarons is a pop-up style palette that is inspired by Christmas in New York City. Open the case and you'll find a cartoon girl - accompanied by the Too Faced co-founders' dog, Clover - ice skating in Rockefeller Center. Instead of the iconic pine, there's a tree made of macarons beside a vendor selling the sweet treat.
The products are just as fun. A deluxe-sized Better Than Sex Mascara complements the 12 full-sized, exclusive shadows. There are soft pastels, mid-toned neutrals, a few smoky shades, and a vibrant purple that are all generously dosed with the aroma of a vanilla cookie. There's a healthy mix of shimmers and mattes, but we found that the finish didn't affect the formula. Each swipe looked creamy and pigmented.
While you may have seen sneak peeks of this product on Instagram, we worked exclusively with Ulta Beauty to provide you with swatches on three different skin tones to inform your holiday gifting. Read on to see the flattering shades and decide whether you'll buy Merry Macarons for a friend (or yourself . . . no judgment here!).

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd's Romance Is as Sexy as Their Dance Moves
When it comes to relationships, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are pretty much pros. This Heartwarming Track Moment Is the Ultimate Demonstration of the Olympic Spirit
Two competitors who never once spoke a word before this race shared a touching moment that beautifully illustrates what the Olympic spirit is all about. During the 5,000m heat on Tuesday morning, US runner Abbey D'Agostino was running in a pack with four and a half laps left to go. She stumbled and accidentally clipped New Zealand runner Nikki Hamblin who was just ahead of her, and both fell to the ground.
Nikki said, ""When I went down I was like, 'Why am I on the ground?' And suddenly there was this hand on my shoulder." It was Abbey, who had stopped to help her up, saying "Come on, get up. We have to finish this race."

A Struggling Ice Cream Shop Got a Second Life Thanks to Pokémon Go
Pokémon Go is the game that keeps on giving, whether it's helping users with depression and stress or promoting physical activity. Now, it's also helping small businesses, like an ice cream shop called Mad Hatter's Ice Cream in Anacortes, WA, that has a second life now thanks to the game.
According to King 5, shop owner Gary Dear had to shut his business down in June due to a neurological disorder. He reopened it shortly after when Pokémon Go first released, and business has never been better. Users have been stopping by for ice cream while visiting the multiple Pokéstops around Gary's shop and dropping Lures to bring in more Pokémon.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expected it to end up like this," Gary said to King 5.

I'm Asian, I Came Out of the Closet, And I Finally Cut My Hair Short
I refused at first. For the first 14 years of my life, I would not allow my hair to be cut shorter than its comforting length of just below my shoulder blades. It wasn't a fashion statement. I usually just pulled it back into a ponytail, since anything more elaborate than that was too feminine for my teenage tomboy sensibilities.
By the time I left for college in New York City, my hair had grown long again. It was dyed bronze and still a little wavy from an old perm that was as shaky as my grip on the closet.
I finally "came out" the Spring of my junior year, four months after having my hair cropped boyishly short, a gendered descriptor I had always anxiously avoided. It was a low-maintenance cut with a straightforward part to the side. Simple. Safe. And I felt like I had made a daunting choice.
It was dyed bronze and still a little wavy from an old perm that was as shaky as my grip on the closet.
I was desperately afraid of being a stereotype. My occasional dresses hid the cargo shorts-wearing skeletons of my childhood. I laughed away the lesbian jokes about going to a women's college. Acting straight allowed me to defy those who made assumptions about me. It didn't matter that they were right all along. In fact, it infuriated me.
When I finally announced my bisexuality to as much of the world as my Facebook privacy settings permitted, I very firmly maintained that it had absolutely nothing to do with my new haircut. But it only took a couple months to get over my own suspiciously specific denial and embrace my queerness in all its stereotypical triumph. I came out with my hair.
A few months later, I decided to come out again. Aesthetically. Whereas my first step into my queerness was cautious and filled with anxiety over how I was read by others, my second step was to accept the person I secretly wanted to be. So, I spouted radical politics, owned an obscene number of faux leather jackets, and became the tomboy of my childhood (sans cargo shorts). And then I got an undercut.
In my relief and rejoicing, I had forgotten that my queer identity came part and parcel with my race.
For a moment, it felt right, both attractive and a defiant statement, but only because I badly wanted it to be. For weeks following, it felt off. The short hairs clipped close to the side of my head stuck out like bristles. My cowlicks wouldn't stay down. It wasn't the feathery fades of the photos I had brought to show the stylist. My hair was too straight, too coarse to stay coiffed. I had forgotten a crucial point.
In my relief and rejoicing, I had forgotten that my queer identity came part and parcel with my race. My hair - the texture of my mother's and grandmothers' and aunts' - is dark, thick, and straight. It's not light, downy, and delicate like the white models who showed up whenever I googled: "women, undercut."
Being Asian and queer complicated things.
When it comes to queer style, androgyny is a desirable challenge to gender normativity. It touts the butch (but not too butch) looks of Halsey, Ruby Rose, Milla Jovovich, and Kristen Stewart.
It's an ongoing journey to feel positive about my queerness, my race, and my hair on top of that.
Androgyny has always been about that hard-edged balance between masculinity and femininity. But when Asian masculinity is desexualized and Asian femininity is infantilized, twists on gender presentation don't quite make the same impact. With my short, flat hair, and my soft racialized features, I felt like a 12-year-old boy. I got carded at bars the same days baristas called me "sir."
It's an ongoing journey to feel positive about my queerness, my race, and my hair on top of that. Even out of the closet, I would often feel awkward and ill-fitted. I tried new haircuts. My hair wasn't fine enough to pull off the pixie cut or flexible enough for a pompadour, and my cowlicks were too tenacious for anything asymmetrical.
It took trial and error and error and error, until I figured out a solution. I found a Japanese hair salon. They knew my texture, the quirks of my part, and the shape of my skull. While they did not share my Taiwanese heritage, they understood the very specific struggles I had with my hair.
Instead of going wild with a clipper, my stylist brought shape to the back of my head with careful trimming. She left the sides and top long to let my cowlicks bear down with their own weight, but added a choppy texture to keep it from flattening. When I stopped bringing in photographs of models I wanted my hair to resemble and instead worked with my stylist to understand the ways my hair grew out, I finally settled into cuts that suited me and my queerness.
I walk the streets happy to confuse strangers with my gender presentation.
There is no one way to look queer. A haircut isn't a requirement for coming out. But the decision to resist against assumptions of gender and femininity and race can be a healing and invigorating aspect of loving and accepting yourself in a world that continues to police beauty.
These days, I walk the streets happy to confuse strangers with my gender presentation. When I feel especially frisky, I style my hair up with some grooming cream, and when frisky is too much work, I wear a hat. Either way, long or short, my hair will always be as queer as me.

This Behind-the-Scenes Footage Proves That Jason Momoa Was Born to Play Aquaman
Ever since we saw the intense fitness regimen that Jason Momoa used to get into superhero shape for Justice League: Part One, we've been anxiously awaiting his debut as submarine hero Aquaman. Not only did Momoa part with his beloved chest hair for the role, but he also completely redefined the traditional DC Comics idea of the hero! So when we caught a glimpse of the ruggedly gorgeous actor behind the scenes of Justice League, we thanked our lucky stars (and the folks who run DC Films' Tumblr account) for such a blessing.
11 Reasons Jason Momoa Is Already the Perfect Aquaman
The two behind-the-scenes GIFs of Momoa in a large pool (presumably between takes), complete with his Aquaman armor and faux full-body tattoos, were accompanied by a quote about the actor from producer Deborah Snyder. "Jason is a physical presence. He's enormous - kind of scary, but at the same time he's warm and loving," the quote reads. "And we felt like these were the characteristics Aquaman needed to have."
And we thought we couldn't get more excited! If you need us, we'll be counting the minutes until Justice League: Part One hits theaters in November 2017.

Apple Might Finally Give Us What We've Been Waiting For: a Waterproof iPhone
As rumors continue to circulate about Apple's iPhone 7, which has an expected release date of Sept. 7, one leak is emerging that might actually come true. The blog Patently Apple recently discovered that Apple acquired a patent for color-correcting technology in underwater photos - meaning the phone itself would have to be waterproof . . . right?
This news seems long overdue as many smartphones, like Samsung's Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, are already waterproof or, at the very least, splash-resistant. It also makes sense considering another rumor stating the iPhone 7 won't have a headphone jack - removing the possibility for water damage to occur.
According to Patently Apple, the patent was originally filed in late 2013, but was just published this August. The blog states that Apple's invention edits photos taken under water to remove "undesirable tints from objects in the scene." So not only will we soon be able to (hopefully) hop in the pool with our phones, but our subsequent photos will come out looking Instagram-ready.
It is worth noting, however, that not all of Apple's patents end up actually coming to fruition. For example, they filed a patent for a curved, wrap-around display screen in 2011 that still hasn't been introduced. So unfortunately, this rumor can neither be confirmed nor debunked until the phone is released.
Gigi Hadid's Bikini Print Is So Obvious, We Should Have Been Wearing It Years Ago

Why Khloe Kardashian Is Urging Her Fans to Monitor Their Skin
Khloe Kardashian is cautioning her fans to be mindful of skin health after discovering a cancerous mole on her body a few years ago. The star got candid about her scare with skin cancer in a post on her app.
In her recollection, Khloe shared that a few years back, she noticed a growing mole under her breasts. She researched potential causes of the expanding mole and learned that if a lesion is changing in size or shape, you should seek medical attention. And she did.
"They took the whole thing out and they biopsied it. Thankfully, it was benign," she revealed. "I've gone through this process a couple of times and I am so grateful that most moles have not been cancerous."
But despite a few false alarms, Khloe did find that one mole on her skin actually was cancerous. She explained that doctors removed eight inches of skin upon discovering the affected area.
Khloe urged her fans to check on the health of their skin frequently. "Now that I've gone through this a couple of times, I am extra aware of my skin, body and moles" she wrote. Though Khloe hasn't dealt with any biopsies recently, she hopes that her experience will encourage others to take action if they notice any unusual marks on their own bodies. "I haven't had a problem in years, but wanted to share my experience with you so that if you notice something doesn't look right, you will take action and take care of your health!"
You can start protecting yourself from the risk of skin cancer by using an effective SPF to shield your body from the sun. In addition, be aware of atypical spots on your body (including the soles of your feet!) and make an appointment for a routine screening with your dermatologist. Consistent skin checks with your doctor will allow him or her to monitor your complexion, making any new, suspicious spots easier to find.

25 Risotto Recipes That Are Better Than Pasta
If pasta had a sister, her name would be risotto. Many people think risotto is in fact tiny pasta, but it's not. It's a dish made of arborio rice, which is an Italian short-grain rice that absorbs liquid wonderfully. Traditionally made by gradually adding heated stock to the rice, risotto is a one-pot dinner that's not only fun to make, but also ridiculously satisfying to eat. If risotto isn't already a part of your weekly routine, these recipes will change that. Easy, breezy, and (most importantly) cheesy, these risottos are the definition of comfort food.
Skip the Salon! Learn How to Create Fun Side Twists Perfect For a Summer Wedding
The following post was originally featured on Birdie Shoots and written by Kelly Torrez, who is part of POPSUGAR Select Latina.
I've been loving styling my shorter locks! For some reason, I feel like I actually have found more ways to style my hair now versus when it was double the length. Before I had it snipped, I Pinned loads of similar styles. I came across a few that I knew I had to try, case in point, the side twists.
I couldn't help but remember back to elementary school when we would use butterfly clips to twist our hair back! I'd like to think of this as an update on the classic, so I chose gold bobby pins over clips.

40 Things Parents Shouldn't Have to Say to Their Kids, but Do
You won't want to miss out on this hilariously relatable ode to the crazy things we say to our kids each day from blogger and mother Meredith Masony of That's Inappropriate.
Do you remember the warm fuzzy feelings you had when you thought about having children? That feeling of excitement and wonder about the journey to come. While you were daydreaming about the joy of raising children, I guarantee that you had visions of loving exchanges and deep emotional conversations. No one ever stops and thinks about the crazy things you will eventually say to your child. I can tell you that there are plenty of things that I never thought I would say to my children, yet I say them over and over again.
- Stop licking yourself.
- Did you just put your finger in your butt and then sniff it?
- Why are you eating boogers?
- At what point did you think it was a good idea to poop in the front yard?
- Wearing underwear isn't optional. You must wear underwear.
- When you shower you need to use soap, every time!
- We don't pee on our friends.
- It isn't necessary to name your poops. Just flush the toilet.
- I understand that you love your fish, but you cannot snuggle him.
- Stop playing with your nipples. They will eventually fall off if you keep pulling on them.
- Your penis is not a toy. Give it a rest or it won't be able to do its job.
- Mom is now a bad word. If you say it again you will immediately regret it.
- Do you think my answer has changed since the last time you asked…5 seconds ago?
- If you keep putting LEGOS up your nose, you won't have enough pieces left to finish the kit.
- What did you think the bottom of the shoe was going to taste like?
- Don't be sad. Accidents happen. I pee when I sneeze.
- We go to bed every night. I don't understand why you are shocked. We went to bed last night, the night before that, and the night before that. This is not new information.
- I don't care that you spit that food out, pick it up and eat it. You will clean your plate or we will sit here all night.
- I don't care that Daniel Tiger doesn't wear pants. You have to wear pants. You are not a tiger.
- Please don't point at people. You are not invisible, they can see you pointing at them.
- I asked you to whisper. Screaming is not whispering.
- Do not show your butt hole to anyone. EVER! That is not the point of show and tell.
- Nice girls don't show their nipples. Put your shirt down.
- I will love you even if you grow up to be a dinosaur. I promise.
- Do not put the dog in a choke hold. She does not like that. That is why she runs away from you ever time she sees you.
- I love you, but go away.
- I know she was mean to you, but you can't stab her with a Lincoln log. Lincoln logs are not weapons.
- If you stay in your room all night and don't come out, I will buy you whatever you want.
- I have never seen anyone be so thirsty at bed time. Did you forget to drink all day long?
- You have to actually look for your shoes to find them. Screaming, "I can't find my shoes" will not locate the shoes.
- You don't have to tell me every time you fart. There are no awards for that.
- I will tell you when we get there. I'm not hiding the fact that we are there by driving around aimlessly.
- I don't cook vegetables because I hate you. I cook them because I love you.
- All I did was ask you to put on your shoes. No one told you to walk on hot coals, just put on your shoes.
- Get in the car. Get in the car. GET IN THE CAR!
- Buckle your seat belt. Buckle your seat belt. BUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELT!
- Did you really just ask me what happens when I get to three?
- Take your food out of your pants.
- Please put your peed in pull up in the trash can. The bathtub is not a trash can.
- No one can be this hungry all the time. You have had 18 snacks today and three meals.
Cherish the loving moments. Enjoy the "I love you's" and "You're the best Mom ever." The in-between moments are filled with "We don't put JELLO in our ears" and "Please stop pretending your penis is a sword."
The 1 Print We Might Wear Too Much of This Fall
Stripes and checks are prints so classic, they've become neutrals in our closet; by nature, leopard's a little more wild. But this Fall, we're embracing spots like never before. Instead of worrying about a possible clash, we're throwing the pattern into the mix when everyone least expects it. Yes, you should wear those leopard platforms with a gingham dress - just add a belt to break things up. The Creator of NARS Exclusively Chats Makeup Trends and Breaking Rules
NARS makeup is everywhere, from Blake Lively's face to Sephora's many shelves. Its elusive French creator, Francois Nars? Not so much. That's because unlike today's makeup mavens (like Kylie Jenner and Instagram's most viral), the Tahitian resident stays firmly behind the scenes, painting faces backstage at Marc Jacobs while creative directing his beauty brand.
But Monsieur Nars is about to pull back the curtain with his new eponymous book called Francois Nars, out Sept. 6. It boasts 434 pages of vision boards, behind-the-scenes model Polaroids, fashion shoot outtakes, and even career advice. You can pre-order it on Amazon now, and keep reading for his candid thoughts on the beauty industry, the best celebrities to have in the makeup chair, and what he really thinks of YouTube tutorials.
Spoiler alert: He contours, too.
POPSUGAR: Mercury will be in retrograde when your book comes out. Are you worried? Do you believe in that stuff?
Francois Nars: Ehhh . . . I do and I don't. I do, yes, but you have to go through it. I mean I'm not going to stop doing jobs or cancel my travel plans just because the planets aren't aligned the right way. I know some people do change their lives around it - they'll decide not to travel or do any deals, but I'll never do that. Maybe that's why I've done some bad deals, who knows! [Laughing.]
PS: Do you pack more correcting products in your makeup kit during retrograde phases?
FN: Yeah, maybe more concealer. Maybe more makeup remover. Or maybe you just go with it and adopt a messier look. What are you going to do, other than go with the flow?
PS: But you don't always go with the flow! Your career took off because you were applying makeup with a very different technique, right?
FN: That's true. The very first time I went to a photo studio in Paris, they noticed me because I had a much lighter hand than other makeup artists. I used less product, and I think right away, in the industry at that time, [trends] went faster than ever. They looked at me and said, "My god, this guy is doing something different." I made the girl look fresher than what was going on at the time. I guess it was groundbreaking. It was definitely a rebellion.
I was very shy, but I believed in what I was doing.
PS: It's so funny to think of barely-there makeup as a rebellion.
FN: It's strange because I was so attracted by the very hard edge of ['80s] fashion photos. Those images pushed me to become a makeup artist. But when I finally became one, I went the opposite way than those photographs I loved so much growing up. The influence of my mom was very strong. She was not a Guy Bourdin kind of woman. She was more of a Hans Feurer woman - a little tan sometimes, glowing skin, but not really into sculpted, heavy makeup.
PS: Did her aesthetic make you want to change the makeup game?
FN: It did. I went that way first to make a statement in the fashion and makeup industry - that you don't need a mask of makeup. But my taste in the hard-edged images came back no matter what, so I started mixing. And I think that mix had a fresher approach. Even if I was doing a strong red lip, the skin would be lighter and more transparent. That made a big statement. Even when I was working with Irving Penn and [Richard] Avedon, my touch was lighter.
Nobody can tell you what to do or not do with makeup. So you have to trust your sixth sense about knowing what works.
PS: What made you brave enough to try something different, even when you were surrounded by the biggest legends in the business?
FN: The secret is if you believe in yourself. I was very shy, but I believed in what I was doing. You can be shy, you can be very discreet, but if you believe in what you do and the way you do it, then you have the guts and the balls to do it, and to follow through. Even if you're working with Richard Avedon, you know at the end that your work will stand out and look great. No matter what, it needs to look great. You can't break rules and then have the final look be bad! So you'd better be confident enough to know that if you break the rules, you're going to make it work. Otherwise, you're cooked.
PS: OK, but how do you know if your makeup works?
FN: The answer is, it's an instinct you have. It's something you either feel or don't feel. There isn't a written book, "this works, this doesn't work." I mean, there are books, but they're not true. Nobody can tell you what to do or not do with makeup. So you have to trust your sixth sense about knowing what works and doesn't work. At the end, you're the woman who should know what looks good on you.
PS: But your runway looks are sometimes so extreme. They aren't meant to look necessarily "good" on anyone.
FN: But the runway is the perfect lab to break rules. You can show the world different visions of beauty through a designer's clothes.
PS: Even if you can't wear it in real life?
FN: [Laughing] Makeup artists don't care about that! That's not important! Your runway, as a working woman, as a fun girl, as you, it can be anywhere you want. Your runway is real life. The runway, it's not about saying, "Is this possible for women?" Who gives a damn?! I don't care. I'm doing something first of all to please a designer. Are his clothes wearable by everybody? Probably not. Does he care? Definitely not . . . but when you do Marc's show, for example, the vision is not about pleasing people. We don't say, "Oh my god, is it possible for Madame to wear this makeup to the office?" That's not our purpose. We just do a vision that we have - like an artist painting something - and then hopefully there are always elements that you can grab in "real life."
PS: What do you think of YouTube? Do you think the video beauty tutorials are "real life"?
FN: Oh, it's outrageous. I think the tutorials are insane. Watching people apply contour is amazing. We used to do that to Naomi [Campbell] 20 years ago, but that was something that only professionals knew how to do. It's not easy. So when I watch YouTube, I always ask, "Is this person a makeup artist?" Because it's very hard to do. It can go wrong very easily. And some of them absolutely look like they know what they're doing.
PS: Wait, you think YouTubers really are beauty experts?
FN: I think they know how to create a look. But a lot of those looks are only for red carpet or for selfies. The makeup you see on the internet is so heavy! If you want to walk in the street like that, I mean . . . in daylight, it could look quite scary.
The freedom is what's big today. It would be very sad if everyone looked the same.
PS: Do you know about strobing? Where you add light to the face?
FN: Strobing? Are you serious? I love the name. Do they call it "hashtag strobing?" Okay. We've done that for 20 years or more - strobing, I mean, not hashtags. You just highlight your cheekbones. You know Marilyn Monroe used to do that herself, and she learned from her makeup artists. She put light on her chin you can always see it on camera. "Strobing," huh? Funny.
PS: Matte lips are having a moment. Can we declare them dead for Fall? Long live gloss?
FN: Oh, I like both of them. Matte, glossy, whatever. Some people look better glossy and some look better matte, especially red. And today everything is possible. There isn't just one fashion. The matte lipstick is big right now, and when it's red it looks like velvet. Beautiful. I don't think anyone should only wear one thing now, at least not for a long time. Even on TV, the girls have a matte lip, then a gloss. The freedom is what's big today. It would be very sad if everyone looked the same.
PS: You've worked with more celebrities than most Oscar winners. Who are your favorite actresses in the makeup chair?
FN: One is Tilda Swinton, always. And then I just worked with Sarah Paulson. I adore her. She can be definitely transformed into anything. I took some fantastic pictures of her. I mean, to die. You're going to love it when you see her. She's got one of those faces. That's why on American Horror Story she's so different each season. She's a fabulous actress and deserves so much more than what she gets. You know, and so many people in Hollywood get so much and they don't deserve it? She's the opposite. She is the next big star.
PS: Really?
FN: Sure. Until someone starts "strobing" on the internet, I guess. [Laughing.]
If Fashion Were an Olympic Sport, Queen Máxima's Dress Would Win Gold
Just one day after showing off her toned shoulders in a floral strapless jumpsuit at the Olympics, Queen Máxima wore yet another winning outfit as she excitedly watched Dutch gymnast Sanne Wevers outperform Team USA's Laurie Hernandez on beam and win the Netherlands' first-ever gold medal in the sport.
Máxima caught our eye during the intense competition in a flattering Vita Kin embroidered linen dress with a subtle slit at the front, a belted waist, and the right amount of pouf in the sleeves. While the entire royal family sported the country's signature orange hue, the fashionable Queen used her shawl to incorporate a chic dose of patriotic flair that perfectly complemented the hints of blue in both her outfit and satchel bag. Simply gorgeous! Keep scrolling to see more pictures of Queen Máxima and her family enjoying the Games, and then take a scroll through her most animated moments ever.
