14 Reasons This Is Selena Gomez's Most Stylish Year Yet
With the release of her album, Revival, in October 2015, Selena Gomez's style became reinvigorated with unique and sophisticated outfits. By the start of 2016, it became apparent that the former Disney star had entered a more mature chapter of her life.
On her global tour - which recently came to a close - Selena frequently took risks with both her stage costumes and her backstage wardrobe. She was suddenly juxtaposing Vetements sweats with high heels and tuxedo dresses with vintage sunglasses. In addition to the countless paparazzi pictures, her style transformation was also documented on her Instagram, where she currently has more than 100 million followers. Though Selena is taking time off from public appearances due to her ongoing struggle with lupus, we can't wait to see what next year will have in store.
Look ahead for 17 pictures that prove this was her most stylish year yet.

On Tuesday, the actor shared a touching message for his late friend - who tragically lost his life in a car accident back in 2013 - that reads: "The arduous road to production, the challenging task of filming this latest chapter. The record breaking trailer debut and the shocked world at what the dark road implied... you Pablo have given me strength... purpose and resolve. I promised you we would make something you would be proud of and I pray that we have... miss you. Family above everything! #happytorettotuesday." Along with his moving note, Vin included a throwback photo of him and Paul at the MTV Movie Awards in 2012.

28 Reasons I'll Always Believe Jane Fonda Is the Best Dressed Woman in Hollywood
Have you ever gone out to the movies with friends on a Sunday afternoon in knee-high boots and a wide-brim hat? Maybe one of them looks you up and down, crinkles her nose, and says, "Why are you wearing that?" as she stands there in her cozy sweats. While she's just doing her, and you're doing you, the reason you're wearing a stylish outfit is simply because fashion empowers you.
At least, for me, the day seems a little brighter and my work feels all the more fun when I'm wearing my confidence on my sleeve. Sometimes, the urge to get all dressed up hits me when I least expect it - like before a casual movie outing with friends - but when I slip into a perfect look that hugs my curves, flatters my features, and makes me feel glamorous, I'm going to embrace the spotlight. And so is Jane Fonda.
The actress, writer, activist, former model, and fitness influencer, who turns 78 today, has been showing off her killer fashion sense and impeccable taste since the '60s, when she got her start on Broadway. She commands attention on the red carpet, no doubt making photographers stop in their tracks and point their cameras at her, catching her poses in the best light.
Her outfit choices are selected with the help of stylist Tanya Gill, based on Jane's favorite designers, silhouettes, and power colors. Jane totally loves fashion, and whenever she's able to show it - whether that's on the street or at a fancy film premiere - she seizes the opportunity. I believe this will only continue, as Jane proves there's no age limit to getting creative with your look, being bold with your accessory choice, or trying a cut that's been deemed "too sexy" or "too young." In my opinion, we need to see a little more of that in the fashion industry.
Jane Fonda hasn't become my icon simply because she wears sheer tops and racy, skintight Balmain jumpsuits like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid (though I admit I'm blown away by how well she pulls this off). I admire Jane, and vow to always dress like her, because she wears what she loves - even if it's eccentric, even if it raises eyebrows, even if lands her on "worst dressed" lists.
Though I've never spoken to Jane, and can't be 100 percent sure that this is true, I've yet to find a photo of a star showing off her look with such enthusiasm and such a genuine smile. And I'm a fashion editor - it's my job to look at pictures of people wearing clothes, all day, everyday.
Jane could be anybody - just an average woman with no claim to fame - and I believe I'd still recognize her confident style. Read on for 28 reasons, in honor of her birthday, and then let me know if you find someone who better enjoys showing off her fabulous wardrobe. I'll be over here, wearing the damn dress just to sit in a dark movie theater - maybe Jane will even be the one I'm watching up on the screen.
Why the Ending of The OA Ruins an Otherwise Smart, Weird, and Original New Show
Spoilers for the entirety of The OA's first season below!
When Netflix dropped its latest original series, The OA, with barely any warning on Dec. 16, it seemed primed and ready to take over for Stranger Things as everyone's new binge-worthy sci-fi obsession. There are a lot of similarities between the two shows, but at the end of the day, The OA is something else entirely, and not necessarily in a good way. Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij cocreated the show, which stars Marling as a once-blind young woman named Prairie who reappears after a seven-year-long abduction having regained her sight. Not only that, but she's also armed with a nearly unbelievable tale of why and how she was brutally imprisoned, which she tells piece by piece to her five new friends: four very different teenagers who live in her neighborhood, and one very desperate teacher (the incredible Phyllis Smith) from their high school.
While the structure of Stranger Things plays out much like the countless commercial '80s flicks it strives to embody, The OA waffles on whether or not it wants to have that same kind of mass appeal. It's brilliantly original and visually stunning, to be sure, but by the last three episodes, its intriguing premise isn't enough to support the show's plodding pace, poorly written supporting characters, and absolutely ridiculous final act, which is completely centered around really bad, really cringeworthy interpretive dance - interpretive dance that can cure ALS, stop school shooters, and open dimensions into alternate realities. Yeah.
The show begins with Prairie telling the group that she spent the first years of her childhood in Russia as the daughter of a wealthy oligarch. After her school bus careens off a bridge, she has a near death experience while drowning in the lake, but her father is able to revive her, though she's lost her sight. After that, she's shipped off to America and adopted by an older couple named Nancy and Abel. Years later, on her 21st birthday, she runs away to New York City in an attempt to find her father, but is instead abducted by Dr. Hap, who is conducting terrifying, terrible experiments on people who've had near death experiences. He locks her in a basement with three other unfortunate NDE-ers and takes turns drowning and reviving them day after day to try to find proof of an afterlife. During a botched escape attempt, Prairie gets hit on the back of her head and gets her sight back.
This is where things really start to fall apart: these routine drownings give Prairie and her companions brief glimpses into their own versions of the afterlife, where the "angels" they encounter gift them with five complex dance routines that will supposedly - when done by five people in unison - open a portal to another reality, leaving the prisoners safe from Hap's grasp. Yes, dance routines that involve hissing at each other and look like this:
Hap realizes what they're doing after he sees them use the dances to heal a woman suffering from ALS (I wish I was making this up), but he doesn't want Prairie to be a part of it. He drops her off in the middle of nowhere and takes the rest of the group somewhere else. Back in the present timeline, Prairie teaches the dances to her new friends, telling them that once they learn, she'll be able to climb through an interdimensional wormhole and reunite with her friends. Unfortunately things don't go according to plan. Before the group can formally complete the dance for Prairie, a student walks into their high school cafeteria in the middle of lunch with a machine gun and starts shooting. When confronted by an armed gunman, a typical response might be to run away screaming. You know what Prairie's merry band of misfits decide? We should dance. We should dance the dangerous shooter right out of our school.
A cafeteria worker takes advantage of the gunman staring dumbfounded at them and tackles him to the ground. He gets off one last shot, which lands squarely in Prairie's chest, and then she wakes up in an all-white room. Is it heaven? Is it the alternate reality she was trying to find? Who cares, because this scene is stupid, offensive, and doesn't make sense. If Marling and Batmanglij wanted to make some kind of profound, transcendent statement about life, death, and the human experience, they could have done it without capitalizing on our country's rash of school shootings. It's a cheap ploy to wring emotion out of the viewer, and it's poorly done. The scene, and the gunman, come literally out of nowhere. We've never seen the shooter before, nor do we have any idea what his motives might be. Much like the supporting characters performing in the scene, everything about the finale episode lacks a startling amount of depth, and it undercuts the emotional impact Prairie's "death" is supposed to deliver.
It's worth noting that without the ill-conceived flash mobs, the cliffhanger, and the somewhat-jumbled storylines, The OA isn't completely terrible. Marling is hypnotizing, and costar Emory Cohen (one of the captive NDE-ers) gives an unforgettable performance. Elements of the show are compelling, refreshingly weird, and offer a break from the monotony of cable procedurals. It's unfortunate that it all falls apart so spectacularly in the last handful of episodes. Here's hoping Netflix can iron out these issues in the show's second season, or at least hire a new choreographer.
Why The Santa Clause Perfectly Depicts Your Childhood Image of the North Pole
The holidays are officially upon us, and one of the best things about the festive season is getting nostalgic about how you used to celebrate as a kid. In between sledding with your friends, writing those carefully thought-out Christmas lists for Santa, and baking cookies with your mom, you probably spent a lot of time dreaming about the North Pole. What was it like? How many elves lived there? Could you apply to be an elf? If so, what experience did that entail? Many Christmas movies brought the mysterious and magical place to life, but in my opinion, none did it better than The Santa Clause.
Nothing can ever really compare to the 1994 film starring Tim Allen, but the film's two sequels, The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, still held true to their original North Pole vision. The quaint buildings were decorated with candy canes, there was a Ball Room, and Santa got to collapse in a gigantic bed with comfortable sheets at the end of his long night. From the endless amount of toys to the constant hustle and bustle of the working elves to the grand kitchen constantly cooking up gingerbread houses, it was as if the movie took my wildest dreams of what the North Pole could be and made them real. Even if you're all grown up now, keep reading for further proof that seeing isn't believing, believing is seeing.
This Explains What Your Closet Will Look Like in 2017
We're not exactly mind readers, but thanks to the designers' Spring '17 runways, we can paint a pretty clear picture of the next year in fashion. These looks set the pace for a new season, and it's going to look a little different from the style world as you know it.

Get Glam Makeup Like a Rockette For Your Next Holiday Soiree
You may not think of them this way, but the Rockettes are pretty serious athletes. They sparkle, smile, and high-kick their way through up to five strenuous Radio City Christmas Spectacular performances a day - and not an eyelash falls out of place. You already know how the Rockettes style their hair for seriously secure strands, but their beauty routine is shockingly simple with just a few extra steps to make sure their makeup lasts through the whole show. Dancers Amy Klingler and Katie Hamrah shared their techniques for durable lips and lashes. Plus, they've shared the beauty essentials you'll need if you're going to be the star of a holiday performance, concert, or a really fabulous party (especially one with mistletoe).
If you want to top off your look like a true Rockette, add plenty of blush. "We all love blush," admits Katie. "Even if we only have 30 seconds between numbers, we make sure to apply more." "Blush helps us look as bright and polished at the finale as we do at the beginning of the show," adds Amy. Make sure to take it off at the end of the night with Pond's Cold Cream Cleanser ($5). While you might not be able to replicate their dance moves, you can certainly copy their beauty routine.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Are in Counseling After a Tumultuous Year
It's been a rough few months for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, but the couple is finally seeking help and are in counseling, People reports. Following reports that the duo was in couples therapy, a source told the publication on Wednesday, "They are still both receiving individual therapy. Kim is dealing with the trauma from the robbery. Kanye is receiving help for depression and learning how to cope with stress better." As to whether or not couples therapy is in their future, the source adds, "They might be thinking about couples therapy, but so far it seems they haven't had any sessions together."
Split rumors have also been swirling as of late, but an insider close to the pair revealed to People last week that "splitting is not even a point of discussion." "Truly no truth behind divorce rumors. It's not something she would divorce him over. He had a breakdown, but it does not pertain to them not getting along." Kim and Kanye put those breakup rumors to rest on Sunday when they stepped out for a sweet date night at Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, CA.

5 New Characters You Should Get to Know Before Outlander Returns in 2017
We still have a while to go until Outlander finally returns for its third season in 2017, but thankfully we have a few big things to look forward to. In addition to shocking surprises that will blow your mind and more hot scenes between Claire and Jamie, the upcoming season is bringing in a handful of new and important characters. Remember that whole time jump business? Well, it means a few of our faves won't be returning (Fergus can't stay little forever, unfortunately). Luckily for all of us, the new additions to the storyline seem plenty interesting.
This Family Has a Real-Life Elf on the Shelf, and He's Cuter Than All of Ours
By now, your Elf on the Shelf has probably wreaked havoc on your home and made tons of reports back to Santa about your kid's behavior. Though your elf (read: you) may be getting a little tired - because honestly, how many places can he move around to in the same house? - the elf in the Lawrence home isn't even close to tiring out. Every single day, Rockwell the Elf pops up in a new place - like sitting atop the shower curtain rod or drinking maple syrup while lounging in the fruit bowl - but that's because he's no ordinary Elf on the Shelf. Rockwell is real.
Alan Lawrence, blogger at That Dad Blog and father of six, created the most adorable Elf on the Shelf journey for his kids last year using his real-life 4-month-old son, Rockwell, as the elf (Alan is no stranger to crazy-cool photo shoots, as he created an entire series of photos in which his son Wil can fly). The family had never had an Elf on the Shelf before, but Alan told POPSUGAR Moms he was always intrigued by the idea.
". . . One day someone told us that Rockwell looked like an elf and the idea came to me. What if a real life elf came to live with us for the holidays, and how would I react in real life to having it show up to live with us?"
After the photos of Rockwell went viral last year, Alan decided to continue the tradition this year with a now 15-month-old Rockwell and is hoping that he can compile all of the images into a children's book. Read through to see the pictures of Rock the Elf so far this year - as well as the photos from last year - and be sure to check Alan's blog, Instagram, and Facebook for more and more photos leading up to Christmas morning!
After 20 Years, 1997's Top Fashion Trends Are Back in Style
The cycle of a trend is sort of a funny one: first something's really in, then it's really out, then it makes a triumphant return, cooler, modernized, and ready to be worn again. That's kind of what happened when it came to '90s staples. A few years ago, rocking a tracksuit out and about might have been perceived as outdated and lazy. Now? It's near impossible to find an It girl who doesn't have one in her closet.
We've recently discovered an easy hack for predicting the hottest styles, and it has to do with going back in time rather than looking forward. Read on for some 1997 styles you'll likely see everywhere in 2017. If you could just promise to stay away from that frosted white lip gloss, we'll be forever grateful.

If you're in need of a pick-me-up, keep reading to let Demi serenade you. Then, read her equally inspirational quotes.
17 Liquid-Free Beauty Products You Can Pack on Any Trip
For those of you headed to warmer climes (either for the holidays or for your sanity), there's only one stressor in the way of your daiquiri: TSA requirements. Airport security dictates that all liquid, cream, or gel beauty products must be in a container that is 3.4 ounces or fewer, and that all of said products fit in a quart-size bag. Beauty addicts, we feel your pain. Sure, you know about face wipes and powder foundation, but what about sunscreen, toothpaste, or mascara? We've found the most effective dry beauty products to stash in your travel kit, so the only reason TSA will stop you is to ask what (liquid-free!) nail polish you're wearing.
Before Lisa Bonet, Jason Momoa Was in 1 Other Very Serious Relationship
If you can even fathom it, we all once lived in a world that did not know Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet as a couple. Before the two met in 2005, tied the knot in 2007, welcomed their two children, Lola Iolani and Nakoa-Wolf, and formed one of Hollywood's sweetest modern families, Jason was romantically involved with someone else. While many celebrity dating histories involve a handful of relationships, Jason's proves that he's really a monogamist at heart.
Before Lisa, the Aquaman actor was in a serious romance with Australian actress Simmone Mackinnon. The two began dating in 1999 after starring in Baywatch together and became engaged in 2004 before eventually parting ways in 2006. At the end of his romance with Simmone, Jason met Lisa and the two broke up not long after. He then quickly began dating the Cosby Show actress and the rest is history.
The Best Geek Gifts on Earth, Because Science
It's too bad that the best kind of element - the element of surprise - isn't charted on the periodic table. Get the science geek in your life when he or she least expects it with clever (and practical!) presents saluting the natural and physical sciences.
From a Marie Curie pint glass to a cocktail chemistry mixology set, we've got everything you'll need to make the mad scientists on your holiday shopping list smile (or better yet, "muahaha").
Cranberry Is the Seasonal Skin Care Ingredient You Never Knew You Needed
Cranberries do more than just make the delicious sauce to go with your holiday turkey dish. The seasonal berry is actually a fantastic ingredient when it comes to skin care.
"Cranberries contain a plethora of antioxidants, which help to prevent aging," explained Cassandra Bankson, beauty guru and creator of the Skin Science series.
For example, it's high in two types of vitamin E (tocotrienols and tocopherols) that are antioxidants that protect the skin from environmental damage to reduce and prevent wrinkling, hyperpigmentation, and dull skin.
Bankson added, "They also have trace minerals of potassium, manganese, and anti-inflammatory properties, which help prevent collagen break down and can blunt breakouts for those prone to adult acne."
In terms of skin care ingredients, you'll most likely find cranberry seed oil, cranberry pulp, and cranberry seed powder in products. Keep reading to discover 10 of our favorites that feature this delicious fruit!
The 10 Most Stylish First Ladies to Walk Through the White House
We could never ignore the POTUS, it's just with such a stylish first lady by his side, we might briefly overlook him, admiring his wife's lovely ensemble right off the bat. In the case of the 10 women here - Michelle Obama, Jackie Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and Eleanor Roosevelt all included - we were completely smitten.
These women redefined power dressing during their time in the White House, proving their confidence through fashion-forward outfits. Whether they were slipping into a gown for the inaugural ball or just giving a speech in a colorful suit, there was one common thread: these first ladies knew (or know) how to get noticed and make a memorable, sophisticated statement - now isn't that what politics is all about?
How Did Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. Meet?
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are without-a-doubt one of the sweetest couples in Hollywood, but many fans will be shocked to know that their romance actually started by accident. The two first met on the set of their 1997 movie I Know What You Did Last Summer, but they didn't actually started dating until three years later. "We had made plans for dinner with a mutual friend and the person canceled," Sarah told People about their first date. "We decided to have dinner anyway and never looked back." Since tying the knot in 2002, the pair have welcomed two children, a 7-year-old daughter named Charlotte and a 4-year-old son named Rocky, and shared a handful of sweet couple moments. They even went on to costar in the Scooby-Doo franchise as the iconic TV couple, Fred and Daphne. On and offscreen, these two are the perfect match.
Meet the Power-Woman Shoe That Isn't Ballet Flats or Heels
Heels make you look (and feel) taller, stand straighter, and walk with confidence, so it's clear why they've always been a power-woman favorite. The downside, however, is that a four-inch pump isn't the comfiest choice when you're standing for presentations, and for ladies who hate wearing heels, you'll want a better alternative for the office. So when we had the chance to chat with with Rati Levesque, chief merchant at The RealReal, we had pick her brain on shoes and trends. We wanted to know: what's her shoe pick for the working woman in 2017?
To our delight, she said, "If you love the comfort of the block heel though and want an alternative for the office, I would suggest classic loafers. They're always timeless, and thanks to Gucci, they're also cool again."
We already knew the loafer trend was huge because practically every trendsetter and celeb was spotted in the Gucci fur flat. Since the style catapulted back to popularity, there have been many variations of the classic, from patent leather to velvet finishes, in backless silhouettes, and in a range of rich colors. Thanks to these small updates to an already timeless shoe, the loafer still has a spot in our closets for the New Year. It's in the same league as ballet flats and comfier than stiletto heels, making it an instant must have for power women. You likely own a pair already, but if you don't, you'll want to shop the options ahead.
Couple Mysteriously Receives Hundreds of Letters Addressed to Santa and Seeks to Fulfill Them All
For the last few years, Jim Glaub's mailbox would mysteriously fill up with letters addressed to Santa every holiday season. We know what you're thinking, and no, he doesn't live on the North Pole, he lives in Manhattan on 22nd street, and his apartment has been claimed as the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Previous tenants had gotten a few letters here and there, and the first two years Jim received the mail he "didn't really think anything of it." "I was like, 'Oh, sorry - wrong number,'" he told People.
In 2010, things changed and Jim received around 450 letters. Jim and his now-husband of four years, Dylan Parker, had no idea what to do with all of the requests, so they used the power of social media to make sure all the hopeful children had their Christmas prayers answered. Strangely enough, all the letters the couple was receiving were from local New York families in need, and that's why they felt so compelled to help.
Jim and Dylan's filmmaker friends created a short film for Redglass Pictures about the couple and their overflowing mailbox, which was picked up by The New York Times and helped spread their mission. In 2010, they were able to fulfill 150 of the 450 letters they received. Over the last six years, the letters haven't stopped, and though the couple has since moved out of that apartment, they have turned this mysterious miracle into an international project. With the help of social media, every single letter has been answered by people all over the world.
They created the Miracle on 22nd Street Facebook group, where people volunteer to help and fulfill a randomly selected child's Christmas wishes. "It's just so strange! It's caused this global effort!" Jim said. "We've had people from Hawaii to Alaska, Germany to London, Nicaragua, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo - all helping. I guess that's the power of social media. Why would a woman from Abu Dhabi care about some family from Corona, Queens? It's amazing."
Check out how to get involved with the Miracle on 22nd Street Facebook group.
You Might Not Have a Ball to Attend, but You'll Still Want to Steal Queen Letizia's Collection of Gowns
Even though modern royals prefer affordable dresses from brands like Zara and trendy pieces like comfy track pants, a queen isn't a queen without a serious collection of ball gowns.
In true frugal form, Queen Letizia, who often repeats outfits from head to toe without a care in the world, has worn the same party dresses to royal weddings, galas, dinners, and award ceremonies for the past 10+ years. In fact, since 2004, we've spotted Letizia in only 23 different gowns - hey, for the Queen of Spain, that's not that much! Scroll ahead to ooh and aah over all of them.
What's Actually Happening With Ascendant, the Final Divergent Movie
Allegiant all but flopped at the box office this year, but it still came a shock when Lionsgate announced its new plans for the final film. Ascendant is now supposed to be a TV movie, and the original cast is not feeling it. As the main actors are releasing comments about their futures with the franchise, we're left with less and less hope about the film. There's a lot of information out there right now, so here's what we do know for sure.

Dog Reunites With Her Owner After 2 Years and Has the Most Adorable Reaction Ever
After living and working in Slovenia for two years, Rebecca Ehalt returned home to Pennsylvania in July 2014 and shared a touching video of her reunion with the family dog. In the clip, Rebecca is greeted by the schnauzer - named Casey - who lets out a lot of high-pitched whimpers before passing out, as Rebecca describes it, "from overwhelming joy." Not only is Casey's reaction insanely adorable, but it's also totally understandable since Rebecca's two-year absence has been over a decade in dog years. Even though the video isn't exactly new, it's easy to see why it continues to go viral. Watch the sweet reunion video now.
4 Nutritionist-Approved Hangover Hacks
You're likely here for one of two reasons: one, you're preparing for a wild night and want to steel yourself for impending doom, or two, you're suffering a miserable, skull-crushing hangover and seeking salvation. It's OK, we've got you.
While we have our own little tricks like kombucha and spicy food for an average hangover, we needed to consult an expert for tips on surviving "the big one" on Jan. 1. Nutritionist and registered dietitian Emily Keane from Lifeway Foods created this post-Champagne-binge plan of attack for you, and it's only four simple steps.
Hangover Helper: Detox Yoga Flow
Hydrate
Yes, you have to get out of bed. Drink all the waters. "Do get out of bed to rehydrate yourself," said Emily. "Alcohol dehydrates you, so it's important to rehydrate with water and electrolytes. Choose fruits and vegetables like melons and bananas, as they contain plenty of water and electrolytes like potassium."
Cut the Grease
"Avoid greasy comfort foods," she said. Whoa, no greasy diner breakfast? "Your body may still be processing the previous night's alcohol; since alcohol and fats use the same metabolic pathways and organs, it's important to not overtax them." This means actually getting a healthy breakfast (maybe a homemade breakfast burrito?) with healthy proteins and fats like beans, avocados, and almond butter."
Get Your B Vitamins
Make sure you have some vitamins on hand to "replenish your vitamin and mineral stores." Emily explained that your body uses B vitamins to break down alcohol, which means you need to seek niacin-rich foods like peanut butter. So far it looks like we'll be having a gallon of water and tub of PB next to our beds . . .
Take Probiotics
Who knew there was a pill to help with hangovers? Emily suggests probiotics as a cure for your digestive woes. If you don't have a probiotic pill you love, there are so many foods you can eat that'll help balance your gut's bacteria. "Repower your digestive system with probiotic foods like kefir," she said. "The friendly bacteria can help ease queasy stomachs, diarrhea, and gut inflammation. With 11 grams of protein per serving and probiotics, kefir will help your body recover from a long, rough night.

Dax Shepard Was Freaked Out by Kristen Bell's "Unbridled Happiness" When They First Met
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have been an adorable duo for years, but believe it or not, things weren't always so sweet between the two. The couple, who tied the knot in 2013 and are parents to daughters Lincoln and Delta, first met in 2007 at a birthday dinner for mutual friends. While you would probably assume it was love at first site based on their chemistry, it was actually the opposite. Kristen revealed that their meeting was "not electric," while Dax admitted he was freaked out by Kristen's bubbly personality. "When I met her and her friends, I was suspicious of their unbridled happiness," he told Good Housekeeping magazine. "I thought, 'Something stinks here; they're in a cult.'" But just two weeks later, they ran into each other again while out with friends, and Kristen said "it was on" from that point. Thank God for fate!
5 Secrets Patrick Warburton Revealed About A Series of Unfortunate Events
Dear reader, if you're looking for a cheery, uplifting interview about Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events, perhaps it's best to look elsewhere. Just kidding. As we draw ever closer to the Jan. 13 release of the tragic new series, we've gotten a wealth of captivating pictures, a small handful of compelling trailers, and a look at the full series cast. But what, exactly, are we in for once the full first season drops? We hopped on the phone with Patrick Warburton, who plays Lemony Snicket himself, to get a few hints about what's on the horizon.
- The series will dig much deeper than the 2004 film: "I think that this is the perfect format for these books. To be able to take a creator like Barry Sonnenfeld and give him the reins and say, 'Listen, we have all these stories, and we need to tell them fully.' Two almost one-hour episodes per book lets us be more comprehensive. Now, you actually feel like you're getting the whole book as you watch these. I think it's essentially like a two-hour movie per book."
- There are more stories ahead and a few secrets: "I believe there's a long-term plan to tell all the stories. Within them, there may be a surprise or two."
- All of those elaborate sets, from Count Olaf's mansion to the burned-down Baudelaire house to the underground tunnels, were very real: "Those were sets . . . Bo Welch is the greatest. The most fascinating set design work there is. He worked with Tim Burton on some of his iconic films and of course Barry Sonnenfeld on the Men in Black films. He's done so much, and he brings a lot of the realism. But then there's something sort of otherworldly or othertimely, a dimensionality that he can bring to his sets. It's just another element that is unique."
- Daniel Handler (the real name of the man who wrote the book series) seems pretty normal in real life: "He's fun! He's an interesting, cool dude. When I first met him . . . you're always curious to see the man behind the curtain. This inspiration of his, this creation, became quite profound with millions and millions and millions of readers worldwide. It's interesting when you find a writer who grabbed that lightning bolt. You wonder what it is that made this special, with so many other series and whatnot that didn't find what he found. What is it that made this so special? Was it the hand of God? Did it originate from sea of inspiration? How did these characters come about? These are all things you'll never find out sitting with Daniel at dinner and talking, but he's just a cool dude. It's been nice getting to know him a bit."
- Season two is reportedly in the works: "I know that there's talks and preproduction going on right now."
