Make No Mistake, Moonlight Is More Than Deserving of Its Best Picture Oscar Win

Growing up in the mean streets of Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, I experienced the worst aspects of homophobia. From the age of 12 years old, being tormenting daily because of my sexuality was all I knew. Whether it was someone pulling down my pants to embarrass me or cutting my hair with scissors and calling me a "f*ggot" as I walked the halls to ridicule me, the cruelty was something I dealt with frequently.

One instance that comes to mind is the day I was forewarned by bullies that I would be beaten up once the final school bell rang. Sure enough, my predators were out to get me when the opportunity arrived. I remember running and feeling the heavy weight of sadness, anger, and confusion. I couldn't understand what was it about being gay that made me such a target for such relentless hate. Nevertheless, I had no time to rationalize it. I kept running anyway.

This memory came rushing back to me when I watched Moonlight. The film follows an introverted black boy named Chiron (played by Alex R. Hibbert, Ashton Sanders, and Trevante Rhodes) through three pivotal stages in his life as he struggles to come to terms with his sexuality, especially while living in a drug-infested, poverty-stricken environment filled with people who constantly remind him that he is "other." In the opening scene, there's a shot of Chiron running as fast as he can away from a group of boys his age who are chasing him down, calling him a slew of hateful epithets. As I watched, the scene reopened old wounds. I instantly knew that boy - because that boy was once me.

Luckily, just like Chiron in the movie, someone spotted me. An older teenager from the neighborhood asked me why I was running. I looked back, out of breath, and told him that I was being chased. I remember him urging me to follow him as he dashed toward that same group of boys, yelling at them as they scurried off like cowards. It's those vivid childhood experiences that made Moonlight both relatable and honest for someone who experienced the same homophobia growing up - someone like me.

The movie recently won a Golden Globe for best drama picture, and took home three Academy Awards, including the highest honor for Best Picture. And while I would have loved to see the cast and filmmakers of Moonlight accept the coveted Oscar award without dealing with that awkward mishap, it's not the accolades that make it such an important film. Thanks to the sincere script by Tarell Alvin McCraney (who drew from his own childhood experiences) and the tender directing style of Barry Jenkins, Moonlight manages to accurately explore the way masculinity and self-expression are taught to young queer black boys. More importantly, Moonlight examines the shame and secrecy that often comes with growing up black and gay. The talented actors on screen convey more depth in their silence than in their words, embodying someone who is always expected to be tough in order to get by.

This dynamic is highlighted in the relationship between Chiron and his only childhood friend, Kevin. Chiron and Kevin never quite come to terms with who they really are, both separately and for each other. Even after sharing a beautifully intimate moment with one another as teenagers at the beach, the very next day Kevin is peer pressured at school to prove his manhood by physically assaulting Chiron in front of his classmates. It is a heartbreaking moment for both the audience and the protagonist, who is left bloody and bruised by the one person he trusted most. Although the duo later reconnect as adults, in the end it is never confirmed whether Kevin ever truly had romantic feelings for Chiron so much as Chiron had hoped.

Things are not all bad for Chiron, though. The few bright spots in his life are more than powerful enough to leave you with hope. Take, for instance Mahershala Ali's character Juan, a drug dealer who takes Chiron under his wing as a mentor of sorts, regardless of his own imperfections. There's also Janelle Monáe's character Teresa, Juan's girlfriend, who serves as an emblem of unconditional love and acceptance in place of Chiron's drug-addicted mother who verbally abuses him, played by Naomie Harris. This support system is vital both on screen and in real life for LGBTQ community members who are at a higher risk of committing suicide coming from families who reject them.

Much like the title of another important film released last year, queer black boys on screen are often hidden figures.

The striking impact of Moonlight in the black gay community also speaks to another harsh reality that, even in a somewhat progressive society where openly LGBT people are often celebrated, it's still uncommon to see accurate depictions of black gay males on screen, especially those that shatter the stereotypes of being "on the down-low" or overtly effeminate for the sake of entertainment. Much like the title of another important film released last year, queer black boys on screen are often hidden figures. With Moonlight, audiences get an inside look at homosexuality and masculinity in all of their complexity within the African-American community.

In the same way the moon illuminates the night sky, Moonlight shines an overdue spotlight on blackness and queerness in a way we haven't seen in cinema before. If there's anything to take away from the film as a black gay male, it is this simple fact: we don't have to hide anymore.

Salma Hayek, Innocent Bystander, Saw That Whole Best Picture Flub Go Down Backstage

By now you're likely aware of the major mistake that was made in the last five minutes of the Academy Awards on Sunday night, and actress Salma Hayek talked to reporters about seeing the whole thing go down backstage when she arrived at the Vanity Fair afterparty. "I actually saw it before everybody else," she told ET, explaining that she heard a stage manager saying, "No, no, no," and wondered, "What are they going to do now?" Watch her firsthand account, which she called "freaky but exciting."

Janelle Monáe Wore 2 Gowns For Her 2 Oscar-Nominated Films

Janelle Monáe closed out award season with two regal gowns. At the 2017 Oscars, the Moonlight and Hidden Figures actress sported an elaborate Elie Saab Haute Couture gown and a dazzling Jennifer Behr headband. Following the big show, the effervescent multihyphenate changed into a bold Alexandre Vauthier gown a second gorgeous crown from the same designer. While she looks like a true queen in both gowns, which one gets your vote?

The Inspiration For Your 2016 Halloween Costume Just Won an Academy Award

From Harley Quinn's iconic pigtails to her coordinating eye shadow, Suicide Squad's beauty masterpieces were a shoo-in (in our minds, at least!) for the 2017 Oscar for best makeup and hairstyling. The movie's team of beauty pros, Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson, received the incredible honor at the Academy Awards on Sunday night.

We could've predicted this win back in October, when Harley Quinn makeup tutorials took over our Google searches . . . while pink and blue hair dye destroyed our bathroom tiles an effort to achieve the coolest Halloween costume ever.

There's no denying that Margot Robbie's character revived pigtails as a hot look, making its return from the '90s (when Baby Spice was the hottest chick in town). However, Harley's take on the style was way more badass (sorry, Baby). That now-iconic look plus Jared Leto's mysteriously sexy green strands proved the wilder the hair and makeup, the greater chance for an Oscar.

Congratulations to the Suicide Squad cast!

Mom's Message About Her Baby's Death: "If I Had Given Him Just 1 Bottle, He'd Still Be Alive"

On what would have been Landon's fifth birthday, his mom, Jillian Johnson, managed to sideline her grief to speak out about the death of her baby boy.

Jillian has struggled with wanting to share what happened to Landon for a long time, but feared what others would say and how she would be judged. However, she is ready to put those feelings aside in the hopes that sharing her story will help prevent other families from experiencing the loss that hers has been suffering.

Before Landon's birth, Jillian and her husband thought that they were doing everything in their power to prepare themselves. "We took all of the classes. Bought and read all of the books. We were ready! Or so we thought . . . " she shared on the Fed Is Best Foundation's blog. "Every class and book was geared toward breastfeeding and how it's so important if you want a healthy child."

They even decided to deliver Landon at a "baby-friendly" hospital that was geared towards breastfeeding. After Landon was born via emergency C-section, he exclusively breastfed. Despite lactation consultants saying that "he had a great latch and was doing fine," one noted that Jillian might be having trouble producing milk.

After hospital staff evaluated Jillian's risk factors for difficulties with milk production, they had Landon continue to breastfeed, even though he would constantly cry unless he was on his mom's breast. Jillian felt like she was continuously breastfeeding and when she asked why her baby was always on her breast, she was told that it was because he was "cluster feeding."

"I recalled learning all about that in the classes I had taken, and being a first time mom, I trusted my doctors and nurses to help me through this – even more so since I was pretty heavily medicated from my emergency C-section and this was my first baby," she wrote. "But I was wrong. I've learned I have to be my child's number one advocate."

Landon nursed over nine hours during his first 24 hours of life, but after being alive just 53 hours, he had lost 9.72 percent of his birth weight. Landon was discharged at less than 3 days old and continued to frequently and exclusively breastfeed "with a mother whose milk had not come in."

"So we took him home . . . not knowing that after less than 12 hours home with us, he would have gone into cardiac arrest caused by dehydration," she wrote. "Did you know newborns aren't supposed to cry all the time? They're supposed to eat and sleep and dirty their diapers. I had no idea that he was inconsolable because he was starving – literally."

After getting home, Landon fell asleep while cluster feeding and became unresponsive with no pulse, and turned blue. After 15 days on life support, the newborn passed away. "The best advice I was given by one of his NICU doctors while he was on life support is 'Sure breast is best, but follow with the bottle,'" she wrote. "This way you know your baby has eaten enough. If only I could go back in time."

Dr. Christie del Castillo-Hegyi, an emergency physician with a background in newborn brain injury research at Brown University, explained how Landon died as a result of dehydration, which was followed by cardiac arrest caused by brain injury:

Constant, unsatisfied nursing and inconsolable crying are two of the signs of newborn starvation that lead to brain-threatening complications. If a child is receiving a fraction of their caloric requirement through early exclusive breastfeeding, they can experience severe hunger and thirst, which is why they will cry inconsolably and breastfeed continuously when it is the only source of calories and fluid they are offered. If a mother's colostrum does not meet the child's caloric requirement, they will breastfeed for hours a day in an attempt to relieve their hunger. A child who is "cluster-feeding" may actually burn more calories breastfeeding than they receive in return, which can result in fasting conditions and accelerated weight loss.

Five years later, his mom is still dealing with endless guilt and questions what her life be now if she had just known to give him a bottle.

"And anger because how would I have known? I remember when Stella was born, and she was always quiet. I kept asking the nurses what was wrong with her. They said, 'Nothing. She's doing what she's supposed to,'" she wrote. "Sleeping. Eating. And it was then that I realized that it wasn't normal for a newborn to cry as much as Landon did. He was just crying out from his hunger. But I didn't know. I should've known. I still struggle daily feeling as though I failed him."

The 1 Other Time in Oscars History When the Wrong Winner Was Called

The biggest story to come out of the Oscars this year is undoubtedly the fact that presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway called out the wrong best picture winner. Initially they said La La Land had won the honor, but the real winner was Moonlight. (Cue mortified producers scurrying around the stage.) As embarrassing as the whole fiasco was, it's not the first time it's happened at the Oscars. No, I'm not talking about the time Marisa Tomei was rumored not to have won in 1993. I'm going way back to the 1964 Oscars.

Sammy Davis Jr. was presenting the award for best music, scoring of music, adaptation or treatment. The nominees were Irma La Douce, Bye Bye Birdie, A New Kind of Love, Sundays and Cybele, and The Sword in the Stone. He opened the envelope and read off the name: John Addison for Tom Jones. Addison did win an Oscar that year, but it was for best music/score, substantially original. In his defense, categories were way more confusing back then. Also, he was given the wrong envelope! Take a look:

Ginnifer Goodwin Felt Wrong Celebrating at the Oscars After Bill Paxton’s Death

The Oscars were incredibly bittersweet for Ginnifer Goodwin on Sunday night. After learning about the sudden death of her former Big Love costar Bill Paxton, the actress, whose film Zootopia won for best animated feature, admitted that she had a hard time getting ready for the show. "It was hard to come here, it felt wrong to come and celebrate anything," she told People on the red carpet. Thankfully, her husband Josh Dallas was there to encourage her. "Josh reminded me that Bill loved all things Hollywood history and he would want you to be here." Aww! Josh really is Prince Charming.

The Internet Is Obsessed With the Unusual Way Nicole Kidman Clapped at the Oscars

If you thought the jaw-dropping mix-up of La La Land and Moonlight for winner of best picture was the most insane thing that happened at the Oscars on Sunday night, you'd be wrong. Nicole Kidman sat front row with husband Keith Urban, where the cameras captured her clapping excitedly for each and every winner. That's when the internet realized that Nicole's clapping technique is . . . interesting, to say the least. Less like a human being and more like a robot running out of juice, her claps simultaneously entertained and horrified Twitter users, although someone helpfully pointed out that maybe Nicole was clapping that way because of the rings she was wearing (honestly, we're not convinced).

Ryan Gosling Didn't Take That Best Picture Oscars Mistake Too Seriously

Ryan Gosling lost out to Casey Affleck for best actor at the Oscars on Sunday night, but he appeared to still take home an award when La La Land was named best picture at the end of the show. That reality quickly came crashing down, however, when producers stormed the stage to reveal that Moonlight was the real winner. While La La Land's other star, Emma Stone, was visibly shocked and the film's producer, Jordan Horowitz, gracefully stepped in to handle the situation, Ryan Gosling just kinda hung out in the background. The star looked relaxed and unbothered as he giggled and smiled during the awkward ordeal. When the cast and crew of Moonlight then took the stage to rightfully accept their award, Ryan hugged it out with the stars, including Mahershala Ali. Between this and him kinda brushing off Justin Timberlake at the beginning of the show, nothing got him down.

Emma Stone's Afterparty Mini Proves That She Was Ready to Party

Shortly after Emma Stone won the Academy Award for best actress, Givenchy revealed that she is the first woman to win the esteemed award while wearing Givenchy since Audrey Hepburn. Following the show, Emma stuck with the lucky label and slipped into something decidedly more comfortable.

She attended the Vanity Fair afterparty wearing a silk mini and blazer, both from Givenchy, jewelry by Repossi, and a ribbon in honor of the American Civil Liberties Union. Since her style switch-up was definitely major, it might be easy for you to pick a favorite.

Every Parent Should Use This Dad's "X-Plan" to Give Their Teens a Way Out of Pressure Situations

Being a teen can be difficult; you're learning to navigate a more adult world full of sometimes uncomfortable social situations, which may or may not include peer pressure, while also trying to "be cool." To alleviate some of the stress that comes with these instances, one dad is sharing an invaluable code he uses with his own kids, which acts as an out for them during any awkward social situation - and it's something you and your kids should adopt ASAP.

"As a teen, forcing down alcohol seemed a whole lot easier than offering myself up for punishment, endless nagging and interrogation, and the potential end of freedom as I knew it," Bert Fulks, a father and youth minister, shared on his blog. "For these reasons, we now have something called the 'X-plan' in our family. This simple, but powerful tool is a lifeline that our kids are free to use at any time."

Here's how it works:

"Let's say that my youngest, Danny, gets dropped off at a party. If anything about the situation makes him uncomfortable, all he has to do is text the letter 'X' to any of us (his mother, me, his older brother or sister). The one who receives the text has a very basic script to follow. Within a few minutes, they call Danny's phone. When he answers, the conversation goes like this:

'Hello?'

'Danny, something's come up and I have to come get you right now.'

'What happened?'

'I'll tell you when I get there. Be ready to leave in five minutes. I'm on my way.'

At that point, Danny tells his friends that something's happened at home, someone is coming to get him, and he has to leave. In short, Danny knows he has a way out; at the same time, there's no pressure on him to open himself to any social ridicule. He has the freedom to protect himself while continuing to grow and learn to navigate his world."

Pretty genius, right?

Bert continues his post, highlighting one important component to the plan. "Once he's been extracted from the trenches, Danny knows that he can tell us as much or as little as he wants . . . but it's completely up to him. The X-plan comes with the agreement that we will pass no judgments and ask no questions . . . This can be a hard thing for some parents (admit it, some of us are complete control freaks); but I promise it might not only save them, but it will go a long way in building trust between you and your kid."

The Teaser For Netflix's New Will Smith Movie Will Give You Straight-Up Chills

If you watched the Oscars, chances are good that you were too engrossed in all the gowns, winners, and, ugh, that best picture fail to notice something very interesting during the commercial break: a teaser for a brand-new Netflix movie. Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are starring in Bright from Suicide Squad director David Ayer. Smith plays a cop who is partnered with an orc (Edgerton) to find a dangerous weapon. Did I mention there's a bunch of monsters in this world? Noomi Rapace and Edgar Ramírez also star in the film, out in December.

Lily Collins's Negative-Space Cat Eye Is the Perfect Blend of Edgy and Elegant

After spotting Lily Collins at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, we were immediately captivated by her retro-glam, film noir beauty style. She wore a deep berry matte pout, and her hair (courtesy of Gregory Russell) was coiffed with glossy waves. However, if you didn't zoom in on her look, you might have missed its coolest component: a negative-space cat eye.

Makeup artist Fiona Stiles was responsible for the edgy eyeliner creation, which she dubbed "razor sharp with negative space." While this appears simple due to its minimalist nature, those who struggle to create a standard cat eye will likely appreciate the complexity of actually achieving this finished look. However, the technique is the same . . . just be sure to have plenty of makeup remover and cotton swabs at hand!

To try this fabulous flick for yourself, dab on three dots at the outer corner of your eye in a triangle shape and connect the dots (see how this clever wing hack works here) using liquid liner with an ultrafine tip. We like Lancome Artliner Precision Point Liquid Eyeliner ($31), because its foam "brush" allows for exact application. Nervous about drawing on straight lines? Whip out a credit card and use its edge as a stencil. Clean up any errors with the aforementioned makeup remover or even a bit of concealer for a seriously crisp wing.

Kate Bosworth's Oscars Dress Transformed Her Into a Modern-Day Cinderella

We weren't even looking for Disney dresses at the Oscars, they just popped up. It was hard not to notice that Leslie Mann looked the spitting image of Belle in her Zac Posen gown. And Brie Larson's Oscar de la Renta number immediately conjured images of Ursula's tentacles. But Disney magic was not only reserved for the ceremony. Kate Bosworth clearly got the memo when she showed up to the Vanity Fair afterparty looking like a modern-day Cinderella in J. Mendel. The pairings don't end there, so scroll for the most magical end to award season yet.

Dakota Johnson Jokes at the Oscars: "I'm Actually Not Wearing Any Makeup"

If there's anything we know about Dakota Johnson, it's that she knows how to make a joke out of any situation, yet when she told Ryan Seacrest she wasn't wearing makeup at the 2017 Oscars, the crowd took it a little too seriously.

When Dakota went to kiss Ryan hello at the start of their interview, she pointed out that they didn't even touch, and Ryan explained he never touches a woman's face on the red carpet to prevent messing up her makeup (and because there's no place for bronzer residue on his white tux, obviously). "Mine is spray-painted on my face," Dakota joked. "I'm actually not wearing any makeup."

But all it takes is one quick look at Dakota to know that she was kidding, regardless of her straight face. The Fifty Shades Darker actress pulled up to the red carpet rocking a subtle cognac eye and rose lip, as noted by her makeup artist Kate Lee. Her long lashes and shimmering eye shadow brought out her natural features without looking over the top.

As for her hair, celebrity hair stylist Mark Townsend explained that he "took great inspiration from the 1990s. Because her dress, and especially the collar, was so gorgeous and ornate, we wanted to keep the hair sleek, straight, and minimal." With the help of Dove Extra Hold Hairspray ($4), Dakota's sleek look was secured for the whole night. Mark fixed the knot with bobby pins, adding a pro tip: "I always use an even number of hairpins because I cross them in an X for extra hold and security."

Keep reading to see Dakota's interview with Ryan and more photos from her subtle yet stunning Oscars look.

It's Time to Settle This Once and For All: Are These Frosted Cookies Trash or Amazing?

You know those soft frosted sugar cookies from the bakery section in the grocery store? They're delicious, right? Or maybe you think they're a sad excuse for cookies and wouldn't dare eat one voluntarily. It turns out the sugary cookies are very polarizing, and a viral tweet has thrown the internet into a serious debate.

Twitter user taysux tweeted a photo of the cookies, saying, "It's that time of year again when stores sell these bottom of the barrel, flavorless piece of sh*t things they have the nerve to call cookies." With 14,000 "likes" and counting, it seems plenty of people agree with her extreme opinion of the dessert. Others, however, couldn't disagree more. "Delete this blasphemous tweet. They're the god of all cookies," one person tweeted in response. "These are a delicacy and should be treated as such," another tweeted.

The POPSUGAR office is just as torn as the internet on this highly controversial subject. "It's not even a good cookie, but you still eat it because it has a lot of nostalgic feelings. It's disgustingly delicious," POPSUGAR editor Victor Verdugo said. It's time to settle this debate once and for all: are these frosted sugar cookies from the grocery store disgusting or delicious?

Utterly Shocking New Study Proves Moms Get Less Sleep Than Dads

New research confirms something we secretly always knew to be true: women with children are more likely to be sleep-deprived than women without kids. But on the flip side, having kids has no effect on the father's sleeping habits. Interesting.

Researchers at Georgia Southern University surveyed 5,805 people aged 45 or younger about their daily sleep schedule. For the sake of the research, seven to nine hours of sleep was considered sufficient and less than six hours was seen as insufficient. Overall, 48 percent of mamas reported getting optimal sleep each night, whereas 62 percent of women without kids got adequate shuteye.

A closer look at the findings revealed another fascinating, though not too surprising, fact: a mother's chance of getting inadequate sleep each night increases by 50 percent for each additional child she has. Sleep-deprived mamas, if you're planning on having more kiddos in the future, you best brush up on some creative ways to lure them into a slumber so you can get some shuteye, too.

This Mom Wasn't Just Judged - She Was Discriminated Against - for Her C-Section Birth

A screen shot of a text message between a mom-to-be and a birth photographer is going viral as it's infuriating moms (and fellow birth photographers) across the internet.

In the upsetting conversation, an anonymous mom first reacts to what we assume was a previous message from the photographer refusing to capture her birth because it will be a C-section, not a vaginal delivery. "I didn't 'opt' for anything, but alright. I had no idea birth photographers discriminated people for how they birth their babies but that's good to know," the unnamed mom wrote.

"A surgery isn't a birth, my dear. You aren't giving birth. You are having surgery to remove your abdomen. That is not birth no matter how you swing it and I for one don't want to be there to take pictures of it," the photographer wrote. "If you decide to give motherhood a go from the get and have an actual birth, let me know and we can schedule your session. This motherhood job is hard, if I were you I would think twice . . . " Whether you've had a C-section or not, the photographer's response is upsetting and disrespectful to all moms who have brought a child into the world this way.

Not much is known about either person involved in this exchange, but one birth photographer is speaking out with an important message in response:

"I don't know either party, so I can't attest to the validity of this conversation, but I can say this:

Birth photographers love belly births. We believe cesarean mamas are strong, beautiful, and brave.

We watch as our clients are wheeled back into the OR. We see their chests rise and fall as their surgeons make their first cuts. Sometimes we see exhaustion, sometimes we see fear, sometimes we see relief, but we ALWAYS see strength. Then we capture the moments that those belly babies make their way out into our world. We find the same lust for life in those first, powerful cries. We get to see the hidden world of the womb . . . the colors, the vibrancy, the pulsing life . . . it's overwhelming. And then the reunion of parents and baby is just as sweet, just as powerful, just as poignant as a vaginal birth.

Anyone who says otherwise isn't a birth photographer. Period. End of story."

In Monet Nicole's experience of working with birth photographers around the world, she's never heard of anything even remotely close to this exchange. Instead, she's seen the work of birth photographers change hospital policies and grant more women more choice in their deliveries. "We love Cesarean births, we celebrate Cesarean births, and we'll continue to do so," she wrote on Facebook.

Steve Harvey Can't Resist Cracking a Joke About Warren Beatty's Oscars Mix-Up

Don't worry, Warren Beatty - Steve Harvey feels your pain. On Sunday night, the 79-year-old Bugsy actor joined Faye Dunaway in presenting the last, and biggest, winner at the Oscars: best picture. Unfortunately they announced the wrong film due to a mix-up with the envelope Warren was given (which contained the name of best actress winner Emma Stone, who accepted her award directly before best picture). The La La Land cast and crew took the stage and began their acceptance speeches before producer Jordan Horowitz revealed Moonlight was the true winner. Among all the stunned celebrity reactions to the mistake, few are as understanding of what Warren and Faye are going through as Steve Harvey.

In December 2015, the Miss Universe host crowned the wrong woman as the winner of the annual beauty pageant, resulting in an extremely awkward moment for all involved. After waking up Monday morning and seeing what went down at the Oscars the night before, he tweeted a message of support for Warren:

There's no word yet on whether or not Warren has chatted with Steve about how to handle becoming a meme, but at least Price Waterhouse Cooper, the accounting firm that oversees Oscars votes, has released an apologetic statement about the incident. Now can someone get the Grammys on the line to make sure they didn't mess up album of the year, or what?

Ciara's Oscars Afterparty Dress Will Immediately Remind You of Beyoncé

Ciara and Beyoncé have some similarities. They're both artists, they're both expecting babies, and their maternity looks, so far, are Instagram gold. After Vanity Fair's party last night, we can add yet another similarity to that list: their red carpet style. Post-Oscars, Ciara chose a velvet Jovani Couture gown in a close shade to that of Beyoncé's 2017 Grammys dress.

The two proudly showed off their baby bumps in their bold red gowns, notable jewels, and stick-straight hair. Ciara wore her dress with a glittery red choker instead of a long diamond pendant, but the resemblance here is pretty much uncanny. Read on to see for yourself, and let us know if you think they're twinning.

Ryan Gosling Had the Cutest Reaction to Emma Stone's Oscars Acceptance Speech

Emma Stone's best actress acceptance speech at the Oscars was a breathless and exciting moment for the La La Land star. It was made even more special by her shout-out to three-time costar and longtime friend Ryan Gosling. "Thank you for being the greatest partner on this crazy adventure," she told him, which elicited the most adorable smile from Ryan (perfectly accentuating his perfect bone structure and kind eyes, we should note).

B.J. Novak Responds to Casey Affleck's Controversial Oscars Win With 1 Perfect Tweet

The world practically stood still when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway incorrectly named La La Land as the big winner for best picture at the Oscars on Sunday night, but that wasn't the show's only only big shock. Before the big fiasco went down on stage, Casey Affleck took home best actor for his role in Manchester by the Sea, leaving everyone with a lot of mixed feelings. Over the past few months, his past sexual assault allegations have come to light in a big way, making his win that much more controversial. Even though he denies the claims, people still aren't happy with how he has been celebrated this award season, including B.J. Novak. Shortly after the show, the Mindy Project actor perfectly summed up all of our feelings with one simple tweet, asking the Academy if they could recheck the best actor card again.

The In Memoriam Tribute at the Oscars Included a Photo of Someone Who's Still Alive

While everyone at the Oscars was focused on the giant mix-up at the end of the award show, a pretty glaring mistake happened much earlier on in the broadcast. As Sara Bareilles sang a gorgeous rendition of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides, Now" during a heart-wrenching tribute to all of the icons Hollywood has lost over the last year, photos and names of iconic stars like Carrie Fisher, Prince, Anton Yelchin, and Mary Tyler Moore flashed on the screen in the background. At one point the name Janet Patterson - an Australian costume and production designer who passed away in October - appeared along with this photo:

Unfortunately that's not Janet Patterson. The four-time Oscar nominee who worked on films like The Piano and Far From the Madding Crowd was confused for her friend, frequent collaborator, and fellow Australian producer Jan Chapman (who is still very much alive). In a statement to Variety, Jan expressed her sadness over the error. "I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson," she said. "I had urged her agency to check any photograph which might be used and understand that they were told that the Academy had it covered. Janet was a great beauty and four-time Oscar nominee and it is very disappointing that the error was not picked up."

Although a mistake like this is inexcusable, it looks like there's somewhat of a reason for the confusion. Not only did Janet and Jan work together on The Piano in 1993, but when you search for the name "Janet Patterson" on photo agencies like Getty Images, Jan's picture pops up. The Academy has yet to comment on its mistake, but Jan assures everyone that she's "alive and well and an active producer."

Kate Mara Is Basically a Modern-Day Audrey Hepburn

There's something different about Kate Mara. Sure, the star recently cut her hair into a cute pixie, but we're fashion girls - we're talking about her clothes. And it seems that with her new 'do, the inevitable occurred, something that happens even to the best of us: she switched up her style.

It looks like Kate and her stylist, Johnny Wujek, are letting the new length influence her fashion choices, opting for more ladylike, tailored pieces, some of which are adorned with lace and bows. Even when she's rocking a graphic tee, the star's outfits still scream classic, proving that beauty and style truly go hand in hand.

Take a look at what we mean in the slides ahead, and perhaps Kate's new look will inspire a change of your own.

Starbucks and Lilly Pulitzer Teamed Up to Create 1 Line of Crazy Popular Water Bottles

Starbucks recently collaborated with Lilly Pulitzer and S'well to create a limited-edition collection of water bottles that are about to be practically ubiquitous. On Feb. 15, Starbucks announced the exciting collection in a press release. The water bottles are currently available in 4,000 locations in four unique prints: Palm Beach Jungle, Fresh Squeezed, Siren's Calling, and Resort Escape Floral. They'll also be available online later this Spring.

In the press release, the S'well CEO Sarah Kauss said, "Wrapping Lilly Pulitzer prints on our bottles instantly transported us to Summer days and had us itching to head to the beach." Adding, "They are the perfect accessory for warm, sunny days or for daydreaming about them in the middle of Winter."

While the initial frenzy may make it difficult to snag one of the coveted water bottles, Starbucks does plan on making them available online this Spring. In the meantime, look ahead for some mood-boosting shots.

We Tried Starbucks's 2 New Spring Macchiatos - and 1 Will Be Your New Favorite

Starting Feb. 28, Starbucks will have two brand-new macchiatos on the menu, and the best part is that they aren't limited edition. Once you know how each one is made, you can order them to your heart's content. Each of the macchiatos, as with all of Starbucks's macchiatos, can be ordered hot or iced, but these new ones are being featured one each, hot and iced, to show off the flavors in the drinks.

The first is the Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato. This hot drink starts with coconut milk and a white chocolate mocha sauce that then has espresso poured over it. It's topped with a caramel drizzle and a swirl of mocha sauce. The coconut milk in this drink provides a richness that you don't normally get from a macchiato made with dairy milk. While the caramel and mocha sauces provide sweetness to balance out the strong espresso, it's not overly sweet. This drink may be new for Spring, but I think it'd be perfect for a chilly day.

The second new macchiato is the Iced Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato, which may be my new favorite Starbucks drink. As with all macchiatos, it starts with the milk, and for this one it's Starbucks's Almondmilk. Add to that a kick of the sweet cinnamon dolce syrup, the signature espresso, the caramel drizzle, and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top and you've got a refreshing iced drink that is so full of flavor. The ground cinnamon is the real star of the show in this drink, and the almond milk provides a slight nuttiness to complement the espresso. You really can't go wrong with this order.

The Genius Shoe Move Viola Davis Planned For the Vanity Fair Afterparty

When you're a celeb attending the Oscars, you'll likely spend more than six hours in your shoes. There's the red carpet, the actual show, then the afterparties. That's why it's always best to have a backup - a safety shoe if you will - just in case the heels become too painful. For Viola Davis, that would be a pair of creepers. Right after winning an Oscar for best supporting actress in Fences, the star switched out her red Stuart Weitzman pumps for a pair of YRU sneakers backstage, and we absolutely loved that.

Comfort over everything seemed to be Viola's motto for the rest of the night. She attended the Vanity Fair's Oscars afterparty in a tailored Brandon Maxwell jumpsuit and wore a second pair of metallic creepers by Stella McCartney. The star was so excited about her shoes, she couldn't stop showing them off in photos on the Vanity Fair carpet. It seems Viola has struck gold twice with her Oscar win and sneakers. We Guarantee You Missed This Hilarious Chrissy Teigen Moment at the Oscars

Image Source: Getty / Kevork Djansezian

Few people were having as much of a good time on the Oscars red carpet than Chrissy Teigen. In addition to flaunting her goals-worthy relationship with husband John Legend, the Twitter queen also finally met her celebrity crush Sunny Pawar. Apparently all the excitement tired her out, though. Once the show got going, there was a cut-away shot to Meryl Streep sitting in the audience, and although most eyes were on the 20-time Oscar nominee, something was up with a certain Sports Illustrated model in the background. The moment happened during Casey Affleck's acceptance speech for best actor, and it sure looks like Chrissy is taking a nap on John's shoulder. If we were constantly shutting down social media trolls, whipping up delicious meals, hanging with our adorable daughter, and tired of all these unfair wins in 2017, we'd probably want to take a quick snooze, too.

Who Is Jordan Horowitz? Get to Know the Man Who Graciously Handled That Oscars Flub

This year's best picture win - and loss - at the Oscars will forever go down in infamy. While presenting the winner, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway pulled a Steve Harvey when they incorrectly named La La Land as the big winner of the night (Moonlight actually took home the honor). Even though it was painfully awkward to watch as the whole cast and crew was already on stage saying their thank yous, the film's producer handled the whole thing graciously as he stopped in the middle of his speech to announce the rightful winner. So, who exactly was the unspoken hero of the night?

His name is Jordan Horowitz (not to be confused with the film's writer Justin Hurwitz), and just like the rest of the production team, his success is starting at a young age. At only 36 years old, the NYC native, who is married to writer Julia Hart, already has a Golden Globe under his belt - and it's not for La La Land. In 2011, he nabbed best picture for a musical or comedy for The Kids Are All Alright, starring Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. Even though he didn't win an Oscar this year, he is certainly gaining a lot of praise for how well he handled the incredibly awkward moment.
