30 Stunning Mehndi Ideas to Inspire Your Wedding Henna
If you've ever been to an Indian, Moroccan, or Pakistani wedding ceremony, you've probably seen - or worn - mehndi. Many brides, both abroad and in the United States, wear these henna "tattoos" on their hands and feet for wedding celebrations; look closely and you might spot their loved one's name worked into the design. Many women work henna into their regular beauty routines, but it's certainly lovely for special occasions too. See 30 strikingly beautiful examples of this decorative art form now.
Beat Your Face Like an Instagram Beauty Guru With Sigma's New Brush Set
Beauty dreams just came true for influencer Jackie Aina! Last year, she posted a Snapchat revealing her five favorite, can't-live-without brushes from Sigma Beauty. The team behind brand spotted the video and was so pleased by her picks, they teamed up with her to create a bespoke collection.
Considering Jackie's immense talent - and flawlessly blended face - this set is a must have. The influencer took to her Instagram account to explain the brushes in her own words. She achieves her impeccable foundation with the F80 Flat Kabuki and highlights her cheekbones with the F35 Tapered Highlight. "The E69 Line Perfector is the ONLY angled brush I use to carve out them brows," she remarked, and she uses the E20 Short Shader on her bottom lash line. But her ultimate favorite tool in the set is the E38 Diffused Crease, which she uses for blending shadows. "It works for ALL eye shapes!!" Jackie insisted.
This isn't the artist's first collaboration, though. She partnered with affordable makeup brand E.L.F. in the Summer of 2016 for a custom eye shadow palette. It's quite fitting that you can use some of the tools in this collection with the product from her last collaboration!
If you purchased each of these brushes separately, it'd set you back $99, but this quintet only costs $69. (You can get an additional 10 percent off with Jackie's code, JACKIESIGMA, so go ahead and treat yourself.) Keep reading to get a closer look at the tools, then shop the set.
If You Want to Lose Weight by Running, Read This
You started running months ago, yet every time you hop on the scale, you're let down by the results. What gives? While running does burn mega calories, here are some reasons you may not be seeing the weight-loss results you're after.
Postrun Pig-Outs
Burning tons of calories can cause a famished feeling afterward, but it's important to fuel wisely. Choose junk food as your recovery food and not only are you overdoing it on the calorie front, you'll be hungry again in the next hour. Although a postrun snack is essential, make sure it's packed with protein and filling carbs and does not exceed 150 calories. If you exercised before a meal, enjoy a sensibly portioned plate, and don't go overboard as a way to reward your efforts. If you still find you're utterly famished after a workout, it probably means you need to fuel up before you exercise, so enjoy one of these pre-workout snacks before heading out for a run.
You Don't Run Enough
If you're running and not seeing results, take a look at your calendar. Doing one 45-minute run or a couple 20-minute runs a week won't burn enough calories to lose weight. In order to lose a pound a week, you'll need to cut 500 calories each day, through a combination of diet and exercise. If losing weight is your goal, run three to four times per week and incorporate other forms of calorie-burning cardio and/or metabolism-boosting strength training on the other days.
You're Burning Less Than You Think
You just got back from a run, you're covered in sweat, and you're convinced you burned over 500 calories. But did you really? A 150-pound woman will burn 495 calories running for 45 minutes at a 10-minute-per-mile pace. If you didn't run for that long or that fast, then you're not burning as many calories as you thought. It's best to track your workout just to be sure, using a heart rate monitor or one of these cheap running apps on your phone.
Same Workout, Different Day
If you found a great three-mile loop in your neighborhood, running it for a few weeks can help running become a habit. The problem lies with continually doing the same running workout. Your muscles will quickly adapt to the demands you're placing on them, which is a surefire way to hit a weight-loss plateau. Avoid this issue by mixing up your running workouts: include speed intervals, hills, long runs, and short runs, and run on different surfaces and in new places to keep your muscles guessing and continuously strengthening. Check out these four training techniques that will challenge your run. As mentioned earlier, it's also important not to make running your sole source of exercise. Include other forms of cardio as well as strength training since muscle mass burns more calories and speeds up your metabolism.
It's Not Just About the Scale
Running is one of the best ways to tone your lower body because it helps diminish fat while building muscle. Muscle tissue is more dense than fat tissue, so it takes up less space. This means that although your weight might not decrease (and might even go up a little), other body measurements will change, such as waist circumference, bra size, or the shape of your tush. The number on the scale isn't always the best way to monitor your progress. Even though the scale's not budging, you might be able to fit into those skinny jeans you had your eye on.
What President Trump Eats Every Day - and Why This Nutritionist Has Her Concerns
Image Source: Getty / Stephen Lovekin
During a prepresidency interview with CNN, Donald Trump opened up about his predilection for fast food. He said, "I'm a very clean person. I like cleanliness, and I think you're better off going there than maybe someplace that you have no idea where the food's coming from. It's a certain standard." One nutritionist, however, recently shared her concerns about the president's poorly balanced diet.
Jo Travers is an esteemed nutritionist and the author of The Low Fad Diet. She recently assessed Trump's everyday diet in an interview with The Guardian, and it was pretty eye-opening.
For starters, Trump isn't a big breakfast fan and he's reportedly said, "My big thing is dinner." If he absolutely must have breakfast, he opts for bacon, eggs, or cornflakes. Travers strongly advised against the consumption of bacon. She said, "It's a processed pork product, which has been linked with cancer, so his risk of developing the disease will go up." Given that his usual breakfast is so protein-heavy, Travers recommended a better balance of protein and carbs.
The president has also spoken about his love of meatloaf. He once prepared meatloaf with Martha Stewart and said he often likes to eat meatloaf sandwiches. Travers said meatloaf sandwiches are just fine if prepared with whole-wheat bread. She did, however, bemoan the lack of vegetables or fruit: "Meatloaf is essentially just meat. There's no roughage. And no fibre impacts on gut health. If you don't feed your gut bacteria with fruit and vegetables, that can impact the immune system and lead to infections."
Then there's Trump's commitment to fast-food purveyors like McDonald's and KFC. Following his win during the primary election, Trump celebrated with McDonald's signature Big Mac and fries. Later that Summer, he shared a picture of himself eating fried chicken on his private plane. Albeit delicious, these aren't the healthiest choices. Travers noted these meals are packed with trans fats and linked to heart disease.

In addition to its physical effects, Trump's heavy diet may have mental and emotional implications, as well, specifically due to the lack of healthy fats and omega-3s. "His body will substitute with other types of fats, which are less fluid, making it harder for neuro transmitters to get through," Travers said, adding, "This is linked to mood disorders."

Much like his policies, the president's diet is vastly different than that of Barack Obama, whose main late-night snack was once described as being "seven lightly salted almonds."

See Every Single Magical Shade and Swatch of Urban Decay's Unicorn Lipstick Topcoats
Game over, Urban Decay! While holographic "unicorn" lip glosses and metallic topcoats have already begun to spread through the market, UD just launched a showstopping set. Yesterday, we dropped the news that the brand created Vice Special Effects Lip Topcoats, and today we have the exclusive first look at all 12 shades, swatches, and the campaign images featuring Ruby Rose.
The colors are a dizzying array of blue, purple, green, white, and pink metallics with every type of iridescent, glittery infusion you can imagine. It's definitely - to borrow a phrase from UD - beauty with an edge. We imagine Wende Zomnir and crew watching the previous unicorn lipstick populate Instagram, thinking, "We can own this game." So they did. The result is your naughty night-out essential set. No-makeup makeup girls, proceed with caution.
Here's what we can tell you about the Vice Special Effects Lip Topcoat formula: it's a longwear and water-resistant (like many of UD's products) gel-cream formula. I'm pretty sensitive to dehydrating lip products, and this felt comfortable. This is due to nourishing marine collagen being a key ingredient.
The topcoat is meant to be a shade shifter and transform and lock in whatever color is underneath it. The flexible skinny applicator allowed me to easily line my pout before I filled it in. Because it dries down so fast, you don't have to worry about glitter particles falling all over your face. It didn't get on my coffee cup when I took a sip. It's like glitter lips for dummies.
Keep reading to see all 12 magical shades, swatches, and a sexy Ruby Rose in the campaign before it's available for $18 a pop on March 23 at urbandecay.com and on March 31 at Sephora, Ulta Beauty, and select Macy's stores.

OITNB's Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli Are Married
It's official: Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli are married. The Orange Is the New Black stars tied the knot in a small ceremony in Palm Springs on Saturday afternoon, Martha Stewart Weddings confirms. The duo wore gorgeous gowns by designer Christian Siriano, and the nuptials were planned and designed by Beth Helmstetter Events and included a confetti-themed bash as part of the couple's mutual affection for Pillsbury Funfetti cake. Samira's parents officiated the ceremony, and according to the magazine, their wedding recessional song was "This Is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan and their reception entrance jam was Justin Bieber's "Baby."
The pair first got together in 2014, and Samira announced her engagement to Lauren with an adorable Instagram photo back in October. In the February issue of Out, Samira opened up about their "magical" engagement story, saying she was preparing for the couple's trip to Palm Springs when Lauren came home and asked her to sit next to her. Congrats to the newlyweds!
3 Photos of Yolanda Hadid in a Swimsuit That Look Just Like Gigi
You don't need us to tell you that Gigi Hadid looks good in a bikini. Countless Seafolly campaigns, spots in Sports Illustrated's annual Swimsuit Issue, and oh, maybe those Victoria's Secret runways she walked down confirm she can rock a two-piece.
But what you may not know is that Gigi's modeling prowess can be traced back to her mama, Yolanda. Yolanda began a 15-year stint in the industry when she signed with Ford Models at 16, and, needless to say, she looked just as hot in a swimsuit.
Yes, both Yolanda and Gigi were blessed with gorgeous figures and sultry glares that the fashion world will never forget. But even more importantly, these women are talented, fearless supermodels who can work a camera like it's nobody's business.
Read on to see the uncanny resemblance between this lovely mother-daughter duo. But here's fair warning - your mind is about to be blown!

This Genius Eye Shadow Hack Lets You Save Space and Create Custom Palettes
For makeup addicts, saving space is an essential part of maintaining a collection. It doesn't matter if we're running out of space in our Ikea Alex drawers - sooner or later we are going to need the latest eye shadow, blush, or highlighter and attempt to cram another product into our overflowing assortment.
It's at that moment when savvy beauty enthusiasts take a tip from the pros and save space by depotting. This consists of removing eye shadow (and other pressed powder formulas) from bulky packaging and popping the pans into magnetic palettes. By depotting your favorite shades, makeup becomes easily accessible and drawers suddenly have room for even more products.
Depotting doesn't just act as an organization technique - it also makes packing super simple. As you might know, it can be hard to decide which eye shadow palettes should travel with you. With this method, you can select exactly the colors you want to take with you on your trip and build a custom palette. Genius!
Read on to find out how to use this method for a more organized and transportable makeup collection.
These Are the Color-Correcting Tools You Didn't Know You Needed
Simply put, we're obsessed with the Beautyblender. Not only is it the best tool to blend and buff your foundation to perfection, but it can also be used to dye hair, remove deodorant stains, and apply skin care products (learn more Beautyblender hacks here).
Now the brand has come out with a limited-edition quartet of miniature sponges designed to assist you with today's hottest beauty trend: color correcting. The Beautyblender Micro Mini Correct Four ($30) were created specifically with this technique in mind, and thus are shaded with the main tints used when evening out a complexion. There's a green one for hiding redness, a yellow sponge for correcting under-eye circles, a purple tool to conceal sallowness, and a pink one to brighten pale complexions.
There are so many reasons to love these four tiny tools. Not only are they perfectly outfitted in the pastels of Spring, but because of their festive hues, using like-colored products on each one will keep them from looking super stained. Above all, the Beautyblender Micro Mini is just as efficient at smoothing, blending, and pressing powder and cream formulas into skin as its bigger predecessor. Just remember to clean them after each use!
Once you snap up your cute quartet, master your color-correcting technique with our tips.

The 1 Thing You Should Never Say to a Woman Over 30
Last week, I struck up a conversation with my Uber driver. As the conversation continued around politics, he made an assumption that we were close in age, saying as someone in her late twenties/early thirties, surely I could relate. I pointed out that I'm actually in my mid-forties (I'll be 45 in June), at which the driver abruptly adjusted the rearview mirror with shock and said, "There is NO WAY you're that old! You don't look your age!"
This situation happens to me often. I know he meant it as a sincere compliment, but I'm troubled by the concept that somehow I'm winning at life because I don't have more visible, external signs of aging. It seems after a certain age, "You don't look your age!" is supposed to be the Mother of All Compliments, feathered in a soft nest of "I would never have guessed!" and "OMG, are you serious?" While I appreciate the flattery, I'm always left with a very uneasy feeling: what does that say about how we feel about women and aging?
What makes this well-meaning compliment so unsettling is it implies there's something wrong with looking middle-aged or older. We live in a youth-obsessed culture. It's almost as if we have invisible expiration dates on our skin, and any sign of wear and tear sets off an alarm. The catalyst makes us feel suddenly shamed and expendable.
Our societal thirst for youth is undeniable. Entire magazines dedicated to "The Age Issue." Intense media scrutiny on the appearance of every woman in the public eye, as parodied by Amy Schumer, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and others in "Last F*ckable Day." And the beauty business wages a full-scale war on time, complete with antiaging weaponry meant to eradicate, decimate, and bury all evidence that a woman might be getting older, like "age-defying lasers" and "miracle worker" eye creams. Every day, I watch women battling time with everything they've got, attempting to stay in the same jeans from high school while pushing foreign matter into their faces in order to literally freeze everything right where it is today, forever and ever more.
The fear of being seen as anything less than sexually viable, the palpable threat of being traded in for a younger model, the intense messaging that we're going to die alone if we show a crack in the armor of our skin - all of it is crushing, pervasive, and punishing. We treat women like the newest release of the iPhone: just wait a minute, because we've got a hot newer model coming, and she's so much sexier than your old one that we've made the old model obsolete.
I find this incredibly disturbing. The lines running across my forehead mimic those of my father's. And I can't imagine doing something to get rid of them. Recently, I discovered the magical power of rainbow-colored hair, and I defy someone telling me I'm too old to have it. My jawline and breasts are slowly descending, and outside of exercise, good bras, and products, I'm letting them continue on their path. I truly find softness truly sexy. But I am worried about the women my age (or older) and for the young impressionable girls who are imprinted with an unnecessary fear of aging.
My age is awesome. I know so much more than I have ever known before. The light that shines within my skin is knowledge of how amazing life can be if you just hang in there. I laugh more easily, and I'm so much better in bed because I know my body. My soul, wit, intelligence - the very spark of life within me makes for my vibrancy. I feel like I've done a pretty damned good job taking care of myself. I come from a long line of extraordinary black women who take incredible pride in appearance, and we all have daily rituals that reinforce that sentiment.
"The less you do to your face, the less you will ever have to do to you face," is a mantra my mother once said. I swear by it. I don't wear a lot of makeup, I cleanse, I treat, I moisturize; repeat daily. Outside of that, I've never had anything "done" (re: cosmetic dermatology). The only needles near my face have involved piercing my ears and dental work, and the only surgery has been wisdom teeth removal. No fillers, no nothing. It's real, and it's all mine.
That said, I did start using products at the young age of 9 years old, when my Olay-obsessed Aunt Bert used to slather my face with the legendary cream. I would stand on the stool in her bathroom as she performed her nightly beauty ritual.
Image Source: Courtesy of Kristin Booker
At first, I used moisturizers as a teenager to offset the drying effects of cleansers and astringents. And that routine has now evolved into a twice-daily regimen of cleansing, serums, and moisturizers. My regiment has guest-starring appearances from other products weekly, because I test so many things. But the mainstays remain SkinCeuticals Gentle Cleanser ($34), Simple Cleansing Micellar Water ($7), Kiehl's Since 1851 Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($72), and, you guessed it, Olay Moisturizing Lotion For Sensitive Skin ($10).
I also admit to spending a ridiculous amount on night creams (my desert island products would be Erno Laszlo Luminous C10 Night Treatment ($135) and SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair ($102).
Since there's no beauty cream or cosmetic procedure that can cure our obsession with youth, I'd like to propose a different solution: awareness. Instead of telling a woman she doesn't look her age, just tell her she looks good. Really good. "Wow, you're beautiful," is something every single person on the planet recognizes as sincere currency, and we can live off that bank of positive energy for days.
Also, accomplishments, goals, dreams, and intelligence are incredibly beautiful. Women living unapologetically, like Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Oprah Winfrey, Lauren Hutton, Meryl Streep, and Rita Moreno, are vibrant, exquisite beings. Smart brands are starting to recognize the sensuality that comes from a life of experience. Marc Jacobs embracing Jessica Lange, Joan Didion in a Céline campaign, NARS featuring Charlotte Rampling, and most recently Lancome signing on Isabella Rossellini are all steps in the right direction.
The childish fear of the inevitable end of our lives is forcing us to take extraordinary measures that don't celebrate women. Ladies, if you're with people who don't see the sum of your beauty, ditch them and find your tribe of women who are as juicy and amazing as you. Same goes for the men in your life. Someone out there will love you right as you are . . . no further assembly required.
It's time for a new standard of beauty. Let's all look amazing, regardless of our age. The ultimate compliment is to recognize all of what's in front of you, inside and out. Every single woman has something to bring to the party, and it's time we celebrate that in all its glory.

2017 Is Off to a Great Start For These Engaged Celebrity Couples
Now that Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have tied the knot, the world is waiting with bated breath for another celebrity wedding. Will Serena Williams be making the trek down the aisle soon, or will it be Sam Hunt? Perhaps it might even be Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons. Regardless of who it is, it's refreshing to see stars take the next step in their relationships given all the celebrity breakups we had last year.
Holy Sh*t - Starbucks Added Avocado Spread and 5 Other Tasty Goodies to Its Menu

After announcing its limited-edition pastel cups for the flower-blooming season, the coffeehouse chain just released six delicious new menu items that we seriously can't wait to try. Spoiler alert: one of them includes avocado - yum!
These additions comprise both tasty foods and sippable drinks that will be available starting March 21. Look ahead to see the healthy, hunger-inducing goodies for yourself.

Miley Cyrus Will Win You Over With Her Wedding Dress
I don't know when or if Miley Cyrus is getting married. While Billy Ray Cyrus posted a photo that suggests she and Liam Hemsworth tied the knot, it hasn't been confirmed. Maybe Miley isn't even thinking about marriage. But in my imaginary world, she walks down the aisle in a pretty spectacular wedding dress. You see, ever since I was young, I looked at Miley as someone who represented versatility. She played two different characters on Hannah Montana, and my younger sister plastered posters of Miley all over her walls, some in which she was dressed up like Hannah, others in which she was just herself in jeans and a three-quarter-sleeved tee. But even when she was just being Miley, the actress and singer looked unique and a little bit quirky.
She's gone through many stages, but there has never been a time when Miley's paid attention to trends. During her rise to fame, she wore flares and cowboy boots, maybe because they were representative of where she came from: Franklin, TN. Post-breakup with Liam Hemsworth (the two have rekindled their relationship), Miley kind of went HAM with her wardrobe. And I liked it. What she wore, or didn't wear, was all a part of her personal revolution.
Miley's style at this point could basically be described as costume like. She dressed as a twerking teddy bear and supported LGBT rights in rainbows and big, furry coats. Then, at the 2015 Met Gala, the industry's elite gathered on the red carpet, but Miley stood alone in a cutout Alexander Wang gown. It ended up on some "worst dressed" lists, but I think it was my favorite outfit of the night. It didn't seem like Miley was trying to appear sexy or edgy but just to look like herself.
So now, as outsiders speculate on whether Miley and Liam got hitched, I can't help but to imagine her would-be bridal look. I doubt Miley Cyrus's wedding dress will be all white. It might be neon, a mix of colors, or come with an inflatable skirt. Miley might not wear a wedding dress at all, should she get married. Maybe she'll go naked. She did reveal on the Today show that she prefers to stay out of the fashion conversation: "I don't want people to talk about what I'm wearing. That's usually why I don't wear too much," she said.
One thing's for sure: if Miley Cyrus gets married, her look won't include a ballgown so glamorous that everyone focuses on the pretty (or crazy!) details. They won't be talking about The Dress, because god knows it won't be wearing her. It'll be all about Miley. Read on to see why we know Miley will hit it out of the park on her special day.
15 Holographic Products to Complete Your Transformation Into a Unicorn
If you've been watching the beauty space over the past six months, it should come as no surprise to you that "mermaid" or "unicorn" products are having a major moment. And it isn't only the packaging that makes these items magical! The formulas themselves boast a mesmerizing sheen, which many brands and fans are calling holographic.
However, this is something of a misnomer. Nail polish junkies in particular know that the term holographic specifically refers to a kind of glitter particle that flashes with a rainbow or diamond-like sparkle. Some "unicorn" products fit into this category, but more often, they're iridescent. The colors in this family present as one shade at first glance but flash a few different colors depending on lighting. (For reference, think of the silver, green, gold, and blue casts you can see on a black pearl.)
We say, the more color, sparkle, and glitter, the merrier! We're absolutely fans of this trend and will continue rocking unicorn products long after they're out of style. To help feed your own addiction, keep reading; we've rounded up 15 of our favorite eye-catching prismatic products.
This Eyeliner Trick Is the Ultimate Lazy-Girl Lash Hack
Traditionally, Spring makeup looks use formulas with dewy or satin finishes. After all, it's refreshing to let a bit of skin peek through after covering it up all Winter! But in this beauty tutorial, YouTube vlogger PrincessMei eschews tradition in favor of all matte products - and the result is stunning.
This flawless finished face gives off a vintage vibe thanks to the subtle pops of color. PrincessMei used a light dusting of TheBalm Instain Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush in Argyle ($22) and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes ($6) to add hints of muted rose to her complexion without overwhelming it.
What we're especially enamored by in this tutorial is how PrincessMei draws on her lower lashes. It nicely counteracts the bold effect of her cat eye, balancing the look out. She finishes her eyes by applying mascara exclusively to the fringe on her lower lid.
"It's a hassle to come home after a long day and wrestle off my mascara," she explained. The light touch of product she uses on her lower lashes (plus the faux, drawn-on ones) makes her eyes appear extralarge with minimal effort!

Hand-Pressed Flower Nails Are the Prettiest Accessory For Spring
There's no shortage of creative and pretty nail art inspiration for Spring, but this one tops the lot. Pressed flower nails are our new obsession. Fresh flowers and nail art, what's not to love?
In the words of Miranda Priestly of The Devil Wears Prada, these Spring floral might just be "groundbreaking." The trend uses tiny wild flowers, dried and pressed to create the most dainty accessories. A gel base and top coat will ensure the flowers are fully sealed in and won't lift off the nail. Whether all nails end up covered with the tiny petals, or only few petite flowers and gold flakes give minimalist finish, this look is blooming beautiful!
The best part is that you can do it at home. Get out on a Spring walk, and scout out your own tiny flowers to re-create this adorable art. Press them between the pages of a heavy book until they dry out. If you don't have an at-home gel system be sure to use a good quality top coat twice to seal in the flowers onto your nails.
Kat Von D Slams Makers of Dupe Palette: "Come Up With Your Own Sh*t"
One of the many reasons we love Kat Von D is because she isn't afraid to speak her mind, and she recently took to her personal Instagram to do just that. In a split image, she showed off two palettes: her own Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette ($48) and a Makeup Revolution palette ($15). Kat slammed her competitor in the caption, accusing them of knocking off her product.
"Hey @makeuprevolution - I don't remember the tails being this heavy when I first got this coat," she joked, following up with scathing remarks in hashtag form, including "come up with your own sh*t" and "lazy f*cks."
We must admit, the Makeup Revolution palette looks strikingly similar to the Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette. The layout of the colors, sizes of the pans, and the shades themselves are almost identical, and the name itself - Ultra Eye Contour Light & Shade Palette - is basically the same with some of the words rearranged.
However, Kat Von D's fans have mixed reactions about the makeup maven's outcry on Instagram and shared them in the comments of her post. Some called this acknowledgment of imitation "tacky" and "unprofessional." Instagram user @the.flourgirl stated, "You shouldn't feel entitled to deny people the alternative choice especially if they can't afford your product, or when it sells out." She added, "There will always be dupes, that is the risk you take when you make it big."
Others, like @_smasha_, disagreed. "I could throw out platitudes about 'imitation being flattery' but must be extremely frustrating to put so much thought and work into color selection, design, etc to only have it pretty blatantly ripped off." She pointed out that because one product is much, much cheaper, that formula will be considerably lower in quality. "As a consumer you certainly have the freedom of choice, and each consumer will use their own metric for evaluating if a product is worth supporting," she noted. "But to be insulting and accuse someone of being petty or bullying, when she's really just calling a spade a spade, is ridiculous."

Here's What Makes Keira Knightley's Dress Different From the Rest
Award season and movie premieres bring many red carpets and plenty of standout looks we can't stop buzzing about. One thing we can always be sure of is that Keira Knightley will show up in a feminine, voluminous dress. The actress consistently taps her favorite fashion houses for unmissable pieces. She chooses Valentino when she's in the mood for embroidery and British label Erdem for romantic florals. In fact, Canadian designer Erdem Moralioglu spoke to Porter magazine about working with the star:
"Keira Knightley loves that I put pockets on dresses for her. When you realize how someone feels about walking the red carpet and being photographed from all angles, it's nice to arm them with something that makes them feel relaxed. When I'm wearing a suit, I will put my hands in my pockets and immediately feel relaxed, and I want to make women feel comfortable, too. I love the idea that the silhouette changes when your hands are in your pockets. Your shoulders relax and you become a bit cooler."
After some investigative research, we can confirm that Keira definitely does look cooler when she's making use of her pockets. While she most frequently wears Erdem, she's worn one Alexis Mabille number equipped with pockets, too. Read on for a glimpse at Keira's most effortless gowns, and see how she shines, even though she might be hiding away her bracelets and rings, if only for a moment.
How a Stranger Kept 1 Mom Alone With Twin Babies From Being Kicked Off a Flight
What was supposed to be a simple flight for Mackenzie Murphy turned into an incredibly long day, and this woman wasn't even traveling with an infant. But the mom sitting a couple of aisles in front of Mackenzie wasn't as lucky, as she was hit with multiple problems while trying to fly alone with her twin babies, who Mackenzie estimates were likely under 6 months old.
Mackenzie described the scenario, explaining that because the flight was packed, airline staff began taking carry-on luggage to store under the plane. "A gate worker took this woman's car seat, meaning she would now have to hold both babies since they weren't old enough to sit up on their own in a seat," Mackenzie shared with the Love What Matters Facebook page. "When she sat down on the plane, a flight attendant immediately told her she couldn't hold both babies, and would have to leave the flight."
Before this mom could gather her babies and her things, a stranger sitting in front of Mackenzie volunteered to hold one of the babies during the entire flight. However, before they could even start their 45-minute flight, the plane ended up being stuck on the runway for two and half hours.
"Without a complaint this woman fed the other woman's baby and burped him," Mackenzie wrote. "Her own daughter started crying. This mom, so calmly, went on to explain to her young daughter that 'Our job is to help other people. This mom is all by herself with no help, and really needs another mom to help.'"
This kind woman continued to restore Mackenzie's faith in humanity as she went on to sing the baby songs and snuggle him as he slept. "My heart still feels fuzzy," she wrote. "Moral of the story is when you see people needing help, do the right thing and help them."
Trader Joe's Foods Every Mom Should Stock Up On
Since I started regularly grocery shopping in my 20s, I've always admired Trader Joe's for its reasonable prices, unique offerings, and quick-serve options, but it wasn't until I became a mom that I realized that it was the probably the best grocery store on the planet. Not only do those affordable prices mean a lot more to me now that I'm shopping for a family of four, including two children who seem intent on eating their own weights in fresh produce and encased meats every day, but the store's frozen section? It has literally kept me sane for the past six years, making dinner prep (and yes, I am one of those who still makes separate dinners for the adults and the kids; judge away) a million times easier.
So, thank you, Trader Joe's, for helping me feed my unique brand of picky yet constantly hungry children without losing my mind. If you are a TJ's newbie, here are the must-have items you need to add to your cart ASAP and why Trader Joe's is the best place to get them!
Love Story: Kate Hudson's History of Confirmed and Rumored Romances

Over the years, she has dated quite a few notable celebrities, proving that she knows how to keep things light and fun. 1 Expert Reveals Whether or Not You Really Need Primer in Your Makeup Routine
Is it just us, or does it seem like a new step is added into our makeup routines every few months? Over the past several years, we've incorporated brow pencils, color correctors, highlighters, setting powders, and more formulas into our regimens, but there's still one item we remain skeptical of: primers. This product is designed be used on clean skin before your foundation application and should smooth your complexion while making your makeup last longer. However, we've either been completely disappointed and see no longwear results or are just overwhelmed by the amount of options to choose from. Either way, it hasn't earned holy grail status in our daily routine.
In almost every makeup application appointment we've ever had, the artist has gushed about the paramount importance of primer. We asked Lihja Stewart, Make Up For Ever's director of education and artistry, if primer was really necessary. To our surprise, she said no, and we were grateful for the refreshing perspective.
"It depends on your personal needs," Stewart told POPSUGAR via email. "If you want your makeup to last longer, yes. If you are happy with your skin texture and the wearability of your foundation, then no, not everyone really needs primer."
However, if you're unhappy with your skin's appearance, you might want to reconsider. Primer is designed to re-texturize your skin. It smooths the surface by filling fine lines, wrinkles, and over-size pores (but not clogging them!), making your foundation application flawless. It then locks it down ("like Velcro," said Stewart), improving its wear.
With benefits like that, it's hard to imagine disliking primer. But if you've been dissatisfied with it in the past, that's likely because you accidentally picked the wrong formula. According to Stewart, you should be shopping for primer by skin type and by the product's ingredients.
She recommends those with oily complexions shop for mattifying primers, like Make Up For Ever Step 1 Mattifying Primer ($37), which controls shine. "For textured skin, like large pores and fine lines, try a silicone-based primer for its smoothing benefits," she suggested. NYX Cosmetics Studio Perfect Primer ($13) is an affordable option that is comparable to many higher-end silicone-based formulas.
For dry skin types, Stewart shared that hydration is key. "Try a nourishing primer with emollients for an added glow to the skin," she advised. We love Too Faced Hangover Primer ($32), which contains coconut water and probiotics to make your complexion look healthy and dewy. Those with combination skin can use a few different formulas depending what's needed where (try a mattifying primer on your nose with a hydrating treatment on your cheeks!)
As for ingredients, you need to do a little digging into the likely lengthy list on the packaging of both your primer and your go-to foundation. Depending on whether they are silicone- or water-based will make all the difference in your makeup's durability and wear. "You should not use a silicone-based primer with a water-based foundation because it can cause separation and patchiness due to the formula bases," Stewart revealed. "Silicone is an oil and, of course, a water-based foundation is water; as we know, oil and water do not mix." Learn how to decipher your products' formulas here.
Now that you know how to find the perfect primer for your complexion, all that's left to do is apply it. You can use your fingers (great for small areas like on blemishes or dark circles) or a foundation brush (which will create an even application all over the face). Once you let it soak into your skin for a few minutes, slick on your favorite foundation, and you'll be set for the rest of the day. Still on your quest for the perfect base? Discover some pro-approved foundation picks here.

Kristen Wiig Is in Talks to Join Where'd You Go, Bernadette
It seems like it's been years since Cate Blanchett signed on for the lead role in the movie adaptation of Where'd You Go, Bernadette. (OK, it's been since November 2015.) Now, the rest of the characters are being cast, slowly but surely. The latest addition is Kristen Wiig! Richard Linklater is directing the film, based on Maria Semple's 2012 bestseller. We couldn't be happier about the choices so far, and we can't wait to see who else gets cast.

9 Outfits That Never Go Out of Style
With every runway and every new trend, I'm less enthused with what's in my own closet. It's more than an occupational hazard, and a common sentiment many women share: how to make our wardrobes functional and stylish each day so that we're never the victims of "I have nothing to wear" syndrome again. The answer I'm finding isn't always in stocking your closet with new stuff but in remembering the value of great essentials - and how to work them time and time again. So I'm going back to basics with nine timeless outfits you can rework and rewear any way you like. It starts here with a few easy formulas; just add and subtract to make them your own.
The Horrifying Connection Between Dry Shampoo and Hair Loss
The busier our schedules get, the more frequently that seemingly avoidable tasks are dropped from our to-do lists. Somehow, several times a week, a good ol' hair-sudsing sesh was dropped from this list a while back and replaced with that miracle in a can, dry shampoo. We know we're not alone: after casually polling other POPSUGAR editors, we found that many women stretched out a wash two to four days using the product. (Chances are that as you read this, you may have some dry shampoo in your own hair!)
According to Anabel Kingsley, director of communications and trichologist at Philip Kingsley Trichological Clinic, replacing true shampoo with a dry formula creates an unhealthy scalp environment. "The health of the hair is strongly reliant on the health of the scalp, and frequent shampooing is vital for this," she told POPSUGAR via email. "If oils, dead skin cells and sweat are left to sit and build up on the scalp, they can negatively impact the function of hair follicles."
Considering that follicles are responsible for new growth, it's not surprising to learn that scalp buildup - including excessive amounts of dry shampoo - can lead to hair thinning and loss.
That's not to say that you can't incorporate dry shampoo into your hair regimen. Kingsley shared that it's safe to use as an alternative to true washing for up to two days in a row. "If you leave more than 3 days between washes, the scalp can get itchy and flaky," she explained. "Flakes are known to worsen hair shedding in certain individuals."
You're not in the clear just yet, though. The way you apply and rub in your dry shampoo could also be causing hair loss. Most tend to concentrate the spritzing at the front of the hairline (this makes sense, as it is where greasiness tends to be most visible). Kingsley insists that you gently work the dry shampoo through this area, as it's where your strands are weakest. Otherwise, you risk noticeable hair breakage . . . or worse. "Very vigorous rubbing of the scalp could also cause hairs to be pulled out from their follicle," she said. "If this is done consistently, patches of hair loss could occur."
When shopping for your next can of dry shampoo, keep scalp-friendly ingredients in mind. We like Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo ($26) (which contains soothing allantoin and bisabolol, an anti-inflammatory ingredient that relieves flaking) as well as Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk ($20). The oat milk in this formula is soothing and protects the scalp. Just don't use these ingredients as an excuse to overindulge!
How 1 Woman Proved You Can Get Better Brows With Time and Patience
Everyone has experienced their own trials and tribulations when it comes to eyebrows. Some of us may have suffered from overplucking, while others have filled them in too dark. But brows can be resilient and, with a little care, you can restore your arches, making them look better than ever.
When we think back on our own brow transformations, we get pretty emotional (how did we do that to ourselves?!), so when an Imgur user shared her five-year journey to achieving awesome arches, we truly related.
The woman shared five different selfies, documenting all the different ways she has played with her brows, from drawing them on really thin to unnaturally thick. Though we applaud her for trying out these trendy techniques, we have to agree that the final look - and also the most natural - perfectly frames her face.
"I thank my lucky stars every day that they grew back in from what I had done to myself as a teenager," she wrote. We're nodding our heads in agreement; her brows are truly blessed!

Kylie Cosmetics Is Mailing Empty Highlighters, and Everyone's Pissed
Imagine this scenario: you rush to your mailbox one afternoon and see that your highly anticipated Kylie Cosmetics package has finally arrived, after days of incessantly tracking the delivery online. But when you rip into the box and flip open the Kylighter container, there's no shimmery makeup in sight. Sounds like a horror film plot, am I right?
Well it looks like this has actually been a reality for some unlucky Kylie Cosmetics fans. Shortly after Kylie Cosmetics finally released its collection of six shimmery highlighters, the entire stock quickly sold out online, much to the dismay of die-hard fans who weren't able to punch in their credit card info quickly enough. Apparently the cosmetics brand decided to cope with the overwhelming demand by sending empty packages to its customers.
Kylie Jenner Just Revealed Her Upcoming Highlighters and They're Perfect For All Skin Tones
Rightfully so, many makeup mavens were pretty darn peeved about spending $22 for a Kylighter (or a whopping $130 for the whole bundle) and receiving nothing but an empty plastic container. So they used social media to share photos of their sad, desolate packaging, along with a few words about their frustration.
Samira Wiley Pulled a Wedding Dress Move Few Would Dare to Make
Rather than opting for looks that contrast on their wedding day, Samira Wiley and her wife Lauren Morelli went for matchy-matchy outfits. The duo, who met on the set of Orange Is the New Black - Morelli is a writer for the series - tied the knot in Palm Springs at a festive celebration that began outdoors. Samira and Lauren tapped Christian Siriano for bridal ensembles worthy of two princesses.
While Samira's silhouette took the form of a ballgown with an empire waist and off-the-shoulder sleeves, Lauren's caped jumpsuit was intricately embellished with a caged bodice, playing up the shimmer of Samira's drop earrings. Once they took the dance floor, Samira slipped into something a little more comfortable. Even so, the designs they wore to walk down the aisle might be the most perfectly coordinated we've ever seen - an unexpected, but lovely move to make for a wedding.

This Restaurant Serves Melted Cheese Wheels Scraped Right Onto Your Plate
Sweet dreams are made of cheese, and a restaurant called Raclette in NYC is making your wildest fantasies come true. The restaurant, as implied by its name, specializes in raclettes, a popular Swiss food that's essentially melted wheels of cheese. You can choose from a variety of raclettes, which are all scraped tableside; a waiter literally brings your own personal sizzling wheel of cheese to the table and scrapes off every last melted bit onto your plate. If this sounds too good to be true, you're going to want to keep reading - we assure you, it's not.
The menu of raclettes includes the Savoyarde ($15), which is melted French raclette cheese scraped onto roasted new potatoes, cornichons, and pickled white pearl onions, and the Mediterranée ($20), or thyme-roasted asparagus and cherry tomatoes with rack-melted raclette. Every raclette meal is served with a slice of baguette (perfect for dipping) and an arugula salad (if you feel like adding some health to your plate).
Aside from the cheese wheels, the menu includes plenty of other attractive options like tartines and croque monsieurs. But let's be real - most people choose the jaw-dropping raclettes for obvious reasons. To get a sense of the experience and reinvigorate your cheese cravings, take a look at some of the most mesmerizing photos and videos customers at Raclette have shared, and be prepared to add this restaurant to your bucket list on your next NYC visit.
Where Did Bruno Mars Grow Up?
This past year as basically been Bruno Mars mania, and we can't get enough. With a catchy new album and a world tour underway, we find ourselves wanting to know more and more about him - while we are loving his sweet relationship with model and actress Jessica Caban, we are also curious about his family roots. The singer, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, is pretty outspoken about his Latino heritage, but where did he grow up? Well, he actually helms from Hawaii! In October 1985, he was born in Honolulu to a father of Puerto Rican descent and a mother from the Philippines. After graduating high school, he moved to LA to pursue a music career, and the rest is history!
Finally - the Best Jeans For Short Girls
The short-girls club is not a bad place to be. While there have been moments I've been frustrated by my 5'2" frame - like when I recently paid a visit to the tailor, only to find I have to return yet again thanks to a new purchase - plenty of jeans look good on me. These days, so many of our favorite retailers like J.Crew and ASOS offer petite sections, and the range of denim available feels endless. Not to mention, cropped fits are right on trend, especially when you can let your fishnet tights peek out from underneath.
If you really love a pair of pooling bell bottoms or wide-leg trousers, it's OK to buy them anyway and get them fitted to your shape. But we're here to make things easy for you. Ahead, we've rounded up styles from our favorite brands that were practically made for shorties. You can't go wrong with any of the silhouettes here, all of which will elongate your legs and flatter your bum.

Dad's "Mouse Trap"-Esque Gender Reveal Is Going to Blow Your F*cking Mind
Holy sh*t is all I can say right now, y'all. This Rube Goldberg machine gender reveal, which took Dude Dad Vlog's Taylor Calmus and his friends three days to set up, is going to blow your f*cking mind.
"It's March 12, 2017 - we're about to find out the gender of Theo's little brother or sister," Taylor starts the epic video. "It's been about three days setting this up and me and all my best friends are super tired." After the short introduction, Theo is set in his crib and tasked with knocking his sippy cup off the ledge to begin a house-wide chain reaction that ends in a pink or blue surprise.
From baby powder swinging like a tether ball around a lamp to knock a car down a ramp to a golf ball running down a long track to set off a leaf blower that would push another golf ball into a row of dominoes, these guys literally used every household object and an insane measure of ingenuity to pull this thing off. We won't ruin the ending for you, but we promise: this is the coolest damn way to reveal a baby's gender that you've ever seen.
This Beautyblender Storage Solution Is Almost Painfully Cute - and It's Only $5
Two little cuties - my sponge storage solution :) from MakeupAddiction
If you have a Beautyblender, you know that it can be a challenge to successfully store it. That's because it needs to dry thoroughly before being stashed away, lest you leave your tool susceptible to mold and bacteria. We've resorted to just leaving ours loose on a countertop, but we've been searching for a more savvy solution. And thanks to one Redditor, we've finally found it.
In a post to the MakeupAddiction subreddit, Reddit user wireless_woman showed off two stands she'd purchased for her blending tools that are both precious and practical. "Two little cuties," she shared. As you can see, the stands have bird-like legs, transforming your innocent sponge into the torso of a funky character that wouldn't be out of place in Monsters, Inc. "I'm actually really tempted to put googly eyes on them," she added.
Even better, these little storage options are available for purchase and incredibly affordable. They come as a duo and can be purchased right now from RoseGal for a mere $5.
