DaBaby and Roddy Ricch Remix "Rockstar" With Poignant Tribute to Victims of Police Brutality

DaBaby and Roddy Ricch spoke out against racist police brutality with their chilling performance of "Rockstar" during the 2020 BET Awards. DaBaby opened the virtual performance with his face against the pavement and a police officer's knee on his neck, a heartbreaking reference to the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. As the camera slowly panned up, DaBaby rapped along to the song's "Black Lives Matter Remix," telling the story of his encounters with police brutality and racial profiling before the video cut to the clouds. DaBaby and Roddy Ricch brought viewers back to Earth as they rapped next to a burning cop car while surrounded by protesters wearing masks and shirts reading "I am George Floyd," "I am Trayvon Martin," and "I am Breonna Taylor." As the video came to a close, the end card read: "In loving memory to all the lives lost to racism and police brutality." Watch the video above.
