You Might Have a Free Ebook Waiting For You in Your Amazon Account

Your next ebook purchase could be on Apple, thanks to a lawsuit settlement in March. About three years ago, the US Justice Department found Apple guilty of illegally fixing ebook prices with book publishers Harper Collins, Penguin, Simon & Schuster, Hachette, and Macmillan, as reported by Forbes. The company's appeal earlier this year was rejected, which means customers are finally getting paid out.

It's easy to find out if you're part of the settlement deal, thanks to Amazon's help page. If you bought ebooks by any of the five named publishers between April 1, 2010, and May 21, 2012, from retailers including Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo, you'll receive credit back. The credits are as follows: $6.93 for every New York Times bestselling ebook and $1.57 for all other ebooks - both good until June 24, 2017. Check your email to see if you have any available credit in your Amazon account ASAP to use towards other ebooks or credit from any other retailers.

15 Memes That Perfectly Describe What It's Like to Watch Finding Dory as an Adult

Every millennial definitely knows that waiting to watch Finding Dory is the probably something we've looked forward to for months. It's a sequel that almost feels as sad to watch as Toy Story 3, because it means another part of our childhood is officially over. That's why when millennials flocked to the theaters to watch the movie, they were a little upset that kids were also in the theaters.

Sure, this is a kids' movie, but it's also the end of characters we love, adore, and grew up knowing. Needless to say, millennials had the best reactions to anyone suggesting that they shouldn't watch Finding Dory or let the kids be. Check out some of our favorites ahead.

This Woman Totally Messed With Her Mom by Sending a Filtered Photo of Herself

One of the best parts of Snapchat are its fun filters that alter the shape and look of your face. To us, it's completely normal to see bug-eyed photos. But for those who don't Snapchat - like parents - it might be a little confusing or freaky to see filters, a lesson one mom learned really quickly.

Rebecca Wyn Owen from Manchester, UK, messed with her mom by using a filter and getting a hilarious text exchange out of it. She sent a picture of herself on WhatsApp using the square head filter to her mom. The mom was legitimately concerned that Rebecca needed medical attention and sent her all sorts of advice and questions. Since posting the texts in a Facebook post on June 20, it has more than 8,000 shares and reactions.

Check out the full conversation ahead to see exactly what happened. Oh, parents . . .

Michelle Obama Learns How to Snapchat From the Boys Who Started the Running Man Challenge

You've probably seen and heard of the Running Man Challenge that's taking over the internet. Although it was popularized by two University of Maryland basketball players, the viral dance trend was actually started by two high school kids named Kevin and Jeremiah. Ellen DeGeneres sent the two teenage boys to the White House to help First Lady Michelle Obama get acquainted with Snapchat.

To help her get started, Kevin and Jeremiah explained the app's basics, like the fun filters and how to record a story. Once Michelle got familiar with the app, they recorded her playing the Five-Second Challenge for her Snapchat account. The challenge is simple: you have five seconds to provide three answers for each question. Watch the video above to see her show off her Running Man at the end like a pro.

How Ridiculous Facebook Statuses Sound When You Read Them Out Loud

Facebook is the perfect dumping ground for all types of feelings. There will always be one person who posts a cryptic breakup song and another whose status is about how lovely their vacation was. While we can't defriend everyone who does this, we can definitely laugh about it - like in this video by comedian Jason Horton. It hilariously shows what saying Facebook statuses out loud sounds like and how irrelevant many of them are. Here's hoping that someday we all learn to curb our Facebook oversharing.

There's Only 1 Way to Describe Aubrey Plaza's Moschino Dress - Fun!

Scroll ahead to see more photos of Aubrey and to find a few affordable options to steal her look on the cheap.

8 Reasons Your Child Could Benefit From Being a Bookworm

I remember asking my mom what "t-h-e" spells. I was sitting on one of those plastic benches/toy chests that every '90s kid had and I screamed her name with such power and urgency that I can now, as an adult, only imagine it sounded like I was getting kidnapped (or worse) in the next room. That's how anything that has to do with reading has always been for me - urgent.

From wedging myself in-between adult conversations to get someone to read to me to carrying a book under my arm everywhere I went - literally everywhere; my poor parents had to entertain each other for most of my childhood because I was always lost in a book - I have grown up with a love of books and stories. But one thing I've learned throughout the years is that you can get so much more out of a book than just stories.

Being an avid reader and constantly feeling the need to bury my head in a new book has given me a surplus of skills and benefits that have affected every part of my life, and I'm a true believer that if our kids' idea of reading is through Facebook statuses, Instagram captions, and 140-character tweets, they're going to be in big trouble.

Read through for eight ways growing up a bookworm affected my life for the better, which are benefits your kids can also get in on if they're encouraged to be readers early on.

  1. I learned new words constantly as a kid (and still do), and developed language at an advanced rate. Because I read so often, I was constantly looking up or asking my parents what new words meant. It then became like a game to use my new words as a party trick of sorts both in school and around friends. When my friends were forming three-word sentences, I was speaking in paragraphs (and still do).
  2. I have the memory of an elephant. Reading books with a lot of characters and storylines puts pressure on the reader to recall events and names, something that for me, as a reader, definitely carried over into everyday life. I'm amazing at remembering birthdays, middle names, and tons of other useless - and not useless - pieces of information.
  3. I can tune out pretty much any type of noise or distraction. If you aren't completely focused on the story you're reading, you'll miss details that could be important, which makes comprehension and recall more difficult as you read. When you read a lot, you have no choice but to adapt to your surroundings and focus on the story alone, even if that means blocking out noises from kid toys or loud TV shows. Being able to concentrate on a book translates to being tuned-in to real-life moments with loved ones, in the classroom, at work, and more.
  4. I still have an active imagination as an adult. Most adults begin to lose the ability to creatively use their imagination in the same way kids are able to, but reading helps to keep things vivid. When you're faced with hundreds of white pages with black text and no photos to be found, it's up to you as the reader to connect the words on the page to a world in your head based on the descriptions given to you. This allowed me to be creative throughout school and to think out of the box now as a working adult.
  5. No matter how stressed I get, I know that reading can help me calm down and refocus my attention. In the same way that I can tune out noise easily, I can avoid dwelling on stress and frustration by putting my mind elsewhere - into a story. Even if I can't sit down to read a book at the height of my stress, I do my best to think about other things and push my worries aside when I need to keep myself focused on something else. Being able to call upon a sense of calm and tranquility even in the most demanding of times is a quality in myself that I truly value and am grateful for.
  6. I have always loved - and been good at - writing. Reading is basically the way a writer can "practice" writing. When you read stories constantly, you begin to pick up on the elements of different authors' writing styles that you like or which resonate with you for one reason or another. The more reading you do, the easier it becomes to jot down well-written sentences that provide information and tell a story. And going back to having a wide vocabulary, being a human thesaurus makes writing a hell of a lot less boring.
  7. I learn something new on every page of every book. OK, maybe not every single page, but I definitely gain a lot of knowledge with every book I read. Sometimes I learn little things, like the state fish of Hawaii (humuhumunukunukuapua'a), but sometimes I gain knowledge about something on a larger scale, like life during World War II, or about something that directly affects my life, like my career. In order to keep growing, you can't ever stop learning, so even when your school years are far behind you, you can ensure that you learn something new every day through reading.
  8. I have a hobby I can turn to literally anywhere I go. Whether I have a physical book in my hand, or am reading an e-book or article online, I have reading material no matter where I go - on an airplane, in a car, waiting in a doctor's office, or when the power is out during a storm and everyone else in the modern world freaks out because their television is unusable. Words are everywhere and reading is a hobby that is possible 24/7 (also, if you utilize your local library, it's free!).

No matter how old your child is, it's never too late to encourage them to be a bookworm - and I promise, they will thank you for the encouragement later.

I Tried the Latest Starbucks Secret Menu Item, the #PurpleDrink

Leave it to dedicated Starbucks-lovers to continue to add creations to the not-so-secret secret menu. After the picturesque #PinkDrink took over Instagram, it didn't take long for the hashtag #PurpleDrink to appear with countless photos of people's blackberry-filled drinks, so we knew we had to try one immediately.

So, what is the Purple Drink anyway? Here's how to order it:

  • Passion fruit iced tea (no water)
  • Soy milk
  • Vanilla syrup
  • Freeze-dried blackberries

Your barista might not have heard of the drink, so be sure to list out the full recipe instead of ordering a "Tall Purple Drink." My barista said the drink usually comes with raspberry syrup, so make sure to get vanilla instead (the raspberry will turn it pink!). I'd argue that the main appeal comes from the unique color, and while it won't become my go-to Starbucks order, I'm glad I tried it once. The texture is a bit chalky, and the combination of blackberries and soy milk results a flavor that's similar to a protein shake (but hey, some people are into that). In comparison, the Starbucks Pink Drink is a strawberry acai refresher, coconut milk, and freeze-dried strawberries - a combination that truly tastes like a pink Starburst.

We held a pink versus purple taste-off in our office, and while some people enjoyed the Purple Drink (it's considerably less sweet), it's clear that pink is the winner. If you're into fruity iced drinks - keep in mind these have no coffee - you should definitely add your pick to your list of Starbucks drinks to order this Summer. If anything, do it for the Instagram, right?

Why 1 Millennial Mother Is Not Ashamed of Her Stereotypical "Mom Hair"

As a mom, there's plenty I feel guilty about. Until now, however, my hair hadn't topped the list.

According to The New York Times - which published a piece yesterday titled, "Mom Hair. It Exists. Now What to Do About It." - I should feel pretty terrible about the fact that, a year into the struggles of motherhood, I decided to chop off my long, wavy locks into a shoulder-grazing bob.

Yep, from the same publication that celebrates the "Dad Bod," the pudgy, out-of-shape physique that men get when they settle down and have kids, comes a cautionary tale about what happens when a woman gives birth while simultaneously having hair.

Oh, the humanity!

Here's the thing, though: on some level, I get the insinuation that "the first thing new moms want to do is cut their hair off."

For most of my 20s, one of the physical attributes I received the most compliments on was my hair. I was blessed with thick locks, and once I had the good sense to grow them out, I'm not too humble to admit it: they were luscious. With the addition of blunt bangs, I had a full-fledged hairstyle.

I told myself I'd never change it.

Then, I had a kid. After months of baby-wiping spit-up out of my chronically greasy-yet-brittle hair because it wasn't the day of the week that I got to shower, I was desperate to take a pair of scissors to it.

But that's where The New York Times' anthropological study into the psyche of all moms-with-hair quickly crumbles.

In coming to grips with why women decide to opt for the "longer-in-back, slightly-shorter-in-front bob," there's no mention of moms feeling tired of constant ponytails or spending precious minutes with a blow dryer when they could be sleeping.

The article insists that women choose "inescapably frumpy" cuts because they feel bad about their bodies, and it goes so far as to implore women to keep their long hair as some form of cloak to hide their grotesque postpartum figures:

"It's not just your hair that's changing. Your body is, too. You might not be at the weight you really want to be yet. And the truth is, long hair can be a little bit of a distraction. When you go short, you are more exposed. There's less, literally, to hide behind."

It also recommends that women start planning their personal hair journey while they're still pregnant - you know, on top of preparing to push a human being out of their vaginas and then raise said human being to not go on to write sexist, demeaning articles for a living:

"For hair color, you'll want to go more natural by the third trimester. An ombré is a really nice way to address the fact you're going to be having fewer hair appointments."

In all of its interviews with master stylists and former models, the article never once addresses the women it is writing about. It never gives advice on hairstyles that are easy to manage. It never operates on the assumption that moms might not have time for even irregular cut-and-colors. It never recognizes that "mom hair" is far less a problem for those with it than those offended by it.

Yes, mom hair exists. And I can't think of a single thing we should all care about less.

Going a Day Without My Phone Changed Everything

Do you want to get more sleep? Do you wish you had extra time in your day? Interested in generally enjoying the world around you? Then turn off your smartphone for a day. That's what I did this week, and let me tell you, giving up your security blanket - I mean iPhone - is liberating.

At 7:15 a.m. my alarm went off. Usually this would be my cue to grab my phone and start my morning Internet routine: Check work email. Reply to urgent work emails. Check personal email. Reply to urgent personal emails. Read morning news digests sent to my inbox. Check Facebook. Check Instagram. Check email one more time. Force. Myself. To. Get. Out. Of. Bed. Sound familiar?

Thanks to ditching my phone, my morning felt way longer and more relaxed.

Instead, it went something like this: Get out of bed. Take a shower. Get dressed. Make coffee. Open laptop. Read email, social media, and news while leisurely enjoying my coffee. Head to the office. Get there 20 minutes earlier, since I got out of bed 20 minutes earlier. Thanks to ditching my phone, my morning felt way longer and more relaxed.

But let's get back to that journey to work. My phone usually plays a big part in it. I call my mom on my 15-minute walk to the subway or listen to podcasts or music. This day I was faced with a solitary walk, free of distractions. And I liked it! I let my mind wander. I noticed the architectural details on the homes I passed. I discovered that on a clear day, you can see the very tip of the Golden Gate Bridge peeking out above the homes on my hilly street. My gut reaction: quick, where's my phone so I can snap a pic for Instagram? But instead, I had to enjoy it all by myself. The walk through my San Francisco neighborhood felt like my little secret.

Once on the subway train, the five-stop journey seemed surprisingly faster, since I wasn't frustrated with a podcast that wouldn't load or a playlist that stopped streaming when I lost service. I also wasn't reloading my email like an addict every time we pulled into a station.

The workday was pretty uneventful without a phone. I'm glued to my computer anyway and popped over to the deli across the street for a late lunch. It didn't give me much time to wait for my food without anything to distract me. I did have a semi-important call with someone in NY, but no phone. So, I used the Google Voice plugin on Gmail to make the call for free. And the Messages Mac app kept me in text-message contact with all my fellow Apple users. And of course I had access to Facebook and Instagram on my browser.

Getting through the day wasn't as hard as I expected, but come 6 p.m., I felt nervous about the commute home. I wore heels that day - but couldn't even think about calling an impulse Uber! Instead of popping in my earbuds in the elevator and firing up the latest Fresh Air on the NPR app, I was faced with a 40-minute commute, free of any personal entertainment. Instead, I grabbed the New Yorker that had been chilling on my desk for a month. Keep in mind: the text-heavy New Yorker and eye-candy Instagram sit on exact opposite sides of the attention-span spectrum.

I've taken the same subway route for five years now, but it seemed different. I felt like an alien visiting from another planet, observing a human society glued to their screens. Now unplugged, I noticed how bizarre it is to see grown adults walking around oblivious to the world around them, and dangerously close to the platform's edge no less. Bump into them, and they seemed jostled out of a social media- or music-streaming-induced dream. I thought, "Who needs Terry Gross when you have a fascinating anthropological experiment happening before your eyes?"

I felt like an alien visiting from another planet, observing a human society glued to their screens.

Now home and filled with smug self-congratulation about a few hours without my iPhone, I opted for a more time-honored screen-time tradition: watching TV. But even vegging out had changed. After dinner, which is always phone-free in our house thankfully, we plopped on the couch for some House of Cards bingeing. Instead of distracting myself with my phone, I gave the TV my full attention . . . until I didn't. Without Facebook and group texts to keep me awake, I found myself passed out at 9:30 p.m. Off I went to bed, where I didn't log some typical end-of-day email checking. I often go to sleep at 11:30 p.m., but that night I was tucked in at 10 and fast asleep until my alarm woke me up. And when it did, I decided to skip my usual still-in-bed phone time and go straight to the shower.

This Game of Thrones Theory Will Change the Way You Look at Daario

As tough and merciless as Daenerys Targaryen has proven to be in her conquering of Slaver's Bay, it would be an understatement to say she's been met with opposition - most disturbingly in the form of the Sons of the Harpy. Secretive, vicious, and, perhaps worst of all, anonymous, the Mother of Dragons never knows where (or who) they'll strike next in their war against her rule in Meereen. The leader has yet to be revealed in A Song of Ice and Fire as well. So who's behind it all? Who's pulling the strings? Who's the titular Harpy in Game of Thrones? It might be someone we've already met.

Hizdahr zo Loraq

Hizdahr is introduced in season four when Daenerys first comes to Meereen and kills the slave masters. Hizdahr's father is one of those killed, which a thread on A Forum of Ice and Fire suggested could have sparked a motive for leading some sort of rebellion against Dany. Not to mention that the Sons of the Harpy are former slave masters themselves, which makes Hizdhar kind of an obvious suspect. He also isn't exactly thrilled with Daenerys's ruling methods, especially her resistance to opening the fighting pits.

Another theory points out that in season five when Dany almost has her dragons burn all of the other Great Masters alive, Hizdhar puts on a brave face - but as soon as he is alone with Dany, he begs for his life. It almost seems as if he wants to appear in control in front of his own people but still respectful of Dany, in order to play both sides.

And once Dany agrees to marry Hizdahr? The Sons of the Harpy seem to fade away (at least for a while). Hmmmm.

Hizdahr comes off more suspicious in the A Song of Ice and Fire books, but it's still never made clear whether he was pulling the strings. And when Hizdahr dies at the end of season five, his death puts an end to the idea that he could go on being the leader of the Sons of the Harpy. That's not to say the group couldn't continue on with the mission that Hizdhar got them started on. We know they're still out in force, as evidenced by their burning Dany's fleet and their reappearance in "Battle of the Bastards." But let's move on to the next theory.

Daario Naharis

True, Daario is originally part of a whole other group in another part of Slaver's Bay, The Second Sons, which makes this theory difficult logistically. He appears to be completely happy following his pretty queen around doing whatever she asks of him, but Daario is more than he seems. We already know he has no qualms about betraying people he's sworn allegiance to - he kills his Second Sons commanders who had been plotting to assassinate Daenerys in season three without a second thought.

Reddit user cattaphish pointed out several details that while aren't exactly smoking guns, might make you pause. Daario knows exactly where the Son of the Harpy is hiding in the walls in season five. He claims he could figure it out because he understood the man's fear, but maybe it's something more. This Reddit thread also goes on to mention that Daario encourages Daenerys to kill the nobles in Meereen, and during the attack from the Sons of the Harpy at the end of season five, the biggest target seems to be masters more than slaves.

Not to mention that just before Ser Barristan goes out into the city and is killed by the Sons of the Harpy, Daario had just convinced her she didn't need to call him back to protect her. Another Reddit theory on this idea even brings up the fact that Daario and Hizdhar go to Yunkai together in season four to deliver her ultimatum about ending slavery and would have had plenty of time for one of them to strike up a deal with the other . . .

Again, this theory hits a major snag at the end of season five as well, when the Sons of the Harpy attack. If Daario is the leader, it would have been a great opportunity for him to take Daenerys out. But he doesn't. And we also see him leading the Dothraki horde against a group of Harpies in "Battle of the Bastards," which is pretty contrary to the theory as well. Could he be innocent? Or maybe just playing an even longer game than we realize?

Whoever is behind the Sons of the Harpy, it's clear that they've got their work cut out for them after the outcome of the recent attack on Meereen. Could their leader get desperate enough to reveal him(or her)self now that the Masters aren't there to fund the group anymore?

Gigi Hadid Just Made Dinner Slippers a Thing

While running errands by herself during the day, Gigi Hadid kept things chic. She worked a cream Victoria Beckham slip dress and a Fall-appropriate Chloé jacket, letting it fall off her shoulders to reveal a sexy slip of her lingerie. Gigi's accessories were elevated, including dark Karen Walker sunglasses, a Versace bag, and Stuart Weitzman booties.

But fast-forward a few hours, and Gigi was wearing very different shoes. The reason? Her best friends Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin paid her a visit, and they were wearing outfits decidedly more casual. Gigi had an easy fix: when the trio went out for dinner, she slipped into her Rihanna Fenty x Puma furry sandals, playing up the shearling fabric on her coat.

While the supermodel might not have appeared as sophisticated as before, it's actually tough to pick a favorite look. In fact, we just may give this whole dinner slippers thing a try. Read on to see how Gigi's shoe swap worked just as well, then shop similar designs or the exact style on eBay until they're restocked.

Angelina Jolie Just Wore the Greatest Summer Workwear Staple

After a quick weekend trip to New York City, where Angelina Jolie showed us the perfect LBD for date night and how to wear leather leggings in the Summer, she took on some business in Washington, DC. The actress joined John Kerry for World Refugee Day, discussing a solution for the 65 million people who have been displaced from their homes internationally. Angelina took on the heavy topic with an air of seriousness, of course choosing a modest outfit.

She appeared confident in a gray suit that wasn't over the top but did have some flair. The blazer featured a zipper down the front and peplum frills at each side, and the pencil skirt hit Angelina right below the knee. She styled the pieces with nothing underneath, a smart move for a warm day. Finishing her outfit with classic accessories, including diamond studs and black pumps, Angelina maintained her sophisticated look, all the while encouraging us to scoop up similar separates. Read on to get inspired, then shop for the eye-catching suit you'll reach for this season when trousers just aren't temperature appropriate.

Queen Letizia Just Wore the Only Dress You Want and Need For Summer Days at the Office

It's not often enough that frugal Queen Letizia of Spain graces us with a brand-new outfit, so when she does, we get excited! The royal, who wears and rewears classic pieces she's had in her closet for years, probably couldn't resist this dress when she first saw it hanging in a shop, and we wouldn't be able to either.

To attend the anniversary for the Foundation Against Drug Addiction in Madrid with Queen Sofía, King Felipe VI's mother, Letizia paired a simple pastel-pink collared dress with black, sheer, striped details with off-white pumps, her simple curly bob, and her favorite customizable earrings from Spanish brand Coolook.

The queen is once again offering lots of inspiration on what to wear to a business meeting in the hottest days of Summer. Her simple rules: wear a light color, a dress with a high neck that still offers a touch of fun, and neutral accessories that won't be distracting. Scroll ahead for more photos of Letizia at the event with Queen Sofía, then check out Letizia and Felipe's love story in pictures.

This Optical-Illusion Makeup Will Make You Question Your Own Eyesight

It's never too early to start thinking about your next Halloween costume, and this trippy Instagram is lending us some serious inspiration for this year's look. Special-effects makeup master Monticha Sriyoschati posted a series of images and videos spotlighting her latest eerie creation.

She carefully painted eight extra eyes, three more pairs of lips, and two additional noses onto her beautiful model's face. The finished result mimics what it's like to look at someone with blurred vision. The cosmetics application appears so realistic, we had trouble finding her genuine features!

If you're thinking about testing out this makeup this year, watch Promise Phan's double-vision makeup tutorial first. Once you master duplicating all your features, you'll be ready to take on this creepy challenge! See more angles of the mesmerizing makeup when you read on.

Victoria Beckham Just Colorblocked Her Way Back Into the '60s

Of course Victoria Beckham wears color. Even though most of the time she's showing off roomy black jumpsuits, the designer's collections are always splashed with bright hues, and Victoria works her own pieces quite often. But to pair a cherry-red sweater with powder-blue trousers, that was a bright move that felt just right for Summer.

Though Victoria sported her go-to staples when she stepped out in NYC - flat top tortoise visors and a pair of polished heels - her outfit combination felt '60s-inspired. In fact, with Victoria's freshly cropped hairstyle and her tapered pants, we almost mistook her for Mad Men's Megan Draper. Read on for another look, then shop the two separates that'll have you colorblocking like Victoria in a snap.

Blake Lively Just Channeled Her Older Sister Robyn's Iconic Teen Witch Character

Blake Lively and her older sister Robyn are closer than close. While we've seen them hit the town together and pose for adorable Instagram snaps, the Shallows actress took things up a notch when she stepped out in New York City on Wednesday. Blake, who has been looking gorgeous on her whirlwind press tour for the shark thriller, looked eerily similar to Robyn's iconic character in the 1989 classic film Teen Witch. Dressed in a blue dress with big, curly hair, the stunning blonde took us right back to that "Finest Hour" school dance scene at the end of the movie (you know, the one where she ditches her magical powers and still ends up with the hottest guy in school). Later that evening, Blake ditched her blue ensemble and opted for a sexy black number as she made her way through the streets of the Big Apple. Keep reading for further proof that nothing can "top that!"

Game of Thrones Basically Just Confirmed How Jon Snow Will Discover the Truth About His Parents

Update: After the gruesome "Battle of the Bastards," Jon Snow announces his plans to lay Rickon to rest in the Winterfell crypt beside his father - which means that Jon will be visiting the graves below his family's house. As the season finale draws closer, it seems all the more likely that Jon will discover his true parentage during this visit to the Stark family crypt. What a season clincher that would be, eh? Read the original post for our full theory about why the crypts are so important for the future of Westeros and what it could mean for our favorite bastard.

Original: Game of Thrones has a way of letting viewers get the tiniest bit comfortable before completely ripping the rug out from underneath them - and because we've grown so confident in our assumptions about Jon Snow's origins, it's high time for the show to completely shatter our expectations.

Since the series has been grooming Bran's storyline to reveal the big secret about Jon's real parents, one Redditor thinks that HBO will surprise everyone by revealing the truth through a much more unexpected scenario. In a long, detailed explanation that provides 18 separate citations (including both proof within the series and iconic fantasy tropes that likely inspired the show's creators), Reddit user jamieandclaire theorizes that Jon will learn the truth when exploring the Stark family crypt after retaking Winterfell.

It sounds crazy, right? But the theory purports that Ned Stark, wanting to honor his sister Lyanna's memory without endangering her half-Targaryen son (Jon), had a tomb built for Jon within the Winterfell crypts. It is a Stark tradition to prepare these graves far in advance, and the crypt is huge - there are multiple levels, one of which was blocked off to regular visitors by rubble. Here's how the Redditor suggests the revelation would go down:

Jon, upon retaking Winterfell, decides to go down into the crypts to visit Eddard's grave, but finds that Ned's bones haven't come to Winterfell yet. He instead passes by the future resting places of his siblings . . .

He stops for a moment, sad with the new knowledge that there is no life everlasting for him or his siblings. Then, remembering his nightmares [about the crypt] (or perhaps finding some clue in Ned's empty grave), he continues down to the lower levels of the crypt in the growing darkness.

His finds his way is blocked by rocks and rubble from the collapse. He considers going back, but something catches his eye beyond the obstruction. He begins pulling at stones, and sees another tomb, prepared and empty.

Clambering over the debris, he walks to the tomb and holds out the torch in the darkness, wiping away the dust from the slab. And this is what he reads.

View post on imgur.com

While much of this theory is sound, some of the most convincing points actually come from the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, not the HBO show. Here are some of our favorite indications that Jon might learn his own story among the dead of Winterfell.

  • Jon Snow has dreams that bring him to the depths of Winterfell's crypt: "And then I find myself in front of the door to the crypts. It's black inside, and I can see the steps spiraling down. Somehow I know I have to go down there, but I don't want to. I'm afraid of what might be waiting for me," Jon describes in the first book. Additionally, the Redditor notes that "when Ned is killed, Bran and Rickon both dream of him in the crypts, sad, saying something about Jon."
  • Parallels between Bael the Bard's tale and the R+L=J theory: The story of Bael the Bard comes up multiple times in the series. Bael, the king beyond the Wall far before Jon's time, infiltrated Winterfell disguised as a singer and wooed Lord Stark's daughter. He "stole her away" (much like Rhaegar Targaryen is accused of doing to Lyanna Stark) in the middle of the night, leaving a blue Winter rose (Lyanna's favorite flower) in her bed. Many months later, the daughter returned with a baby of her own - she had never left Winterfell, simply hidden in the crypt. That son, the bastard of Bael the Bard, went on to rule the North. Can you see the connection between this lore and the theory about Jon's parentage? And it all comes back to one place: the crypt of Winterfell.
  • Foreshadowing from ancient Targaryen lore: Another story repeated in the series, points out the Redditor's theory, is that of Vermax the Targaryen dragon. Vermax supposedly laid eggs in the Winterfell crypt during a visit from Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, creating a theme of Targaryens/dragons being hidden in Winterfell's hall of the dead.
  • Ned Stark could totally have prepared Jon's grave in secret: Because the lower level of the crypt is blocked off by rubble, none of the Stark children or visitors would stray into the closed-off parts . . . plus, Ned Stark could have commissioned a stonemason to design the tomb without anybody finding out. Tyrion mentions in season two that stonemasons typically can't read - "He was a well-read stonemason? Can't say I've ever met a literate stonemason!" - which means that the words inscribed on the tomb would reveal nothing to the tradesman who carved them. Plus, the theorist believes this scenario could explain both Hodor's mental impairment and his fear of the Winterfell crypt: "If the lower levels were collapsed on purpose, it's possible that Hodor was asked to help, as he was big and strong. There could have been an accident which left him with a head injury. We know that at a certain point, Hodor was terrified of entering the crypts."
  • This theme would honor the fantasy tradition of Lancelot: The story of Lancelot (orphaned as a baby only to become one of Arthur's knights) is arguably one of the most famous in fantasy lore, time and again inspiring authors and filmmakers. "Sir Lancelot . . . conquers a keep called the Dolorous Gard where Queen Guinevere is being held. He renames it the Joyous Gard. In the graveyard is a tomb covered by a giant jeweled metal slab, engraved to indicate that only the man who conquers the keep will be able to lift it. He lifts the tomb's slab with ease, and beneath it is written 'Here will lie Lancelot of the Lake, the Son of King Ban.' He thus learns he is a prince inside a grave," the Redditor wrote. The similarities between Jon's storyline and Sir Lancelot's - including the variations of a "tower of joy" where a woman is being held hostage - could be a huge clue that this theory is accurate.
  • Game of Thrones needs a major cliffhanger to hold us over until season seven: This theory would likely come true in one of the final episodes of season six, so it totally fits the timeline that the show usually follows - reveal something huge, then keep everyone waiting for another year.

So, do you buy this insanely detailed theory? We're definitely convinced! While only time will tell if Jon discovers his own truth in Winterfell's burial place, we're almost positive it'll happen this way in the show, the books, or both.

What This Garbage Man Said to a Little Girl on His Route Will Leave You in a Puddle of Mush

A little girl named Brooklyn had a very surprising request for her birthday - she wanted to finally meet a man she's been admiring from afar: her family's garbage collector, Delvar. Or as they've taken to calling him, "our favorite awesome smiley garbage man."

Each Thursday for the past year, Brooklyn, who lives in Bloomington, IL, has anxiously awaited the garbage truck's arrival at their house.

In a Facebook post, Brooklyn's mom wrote:

It started with waving from the window, then we had to try and be outside to wave, and when we missed the truck driving by the house, I'd drive around the neighborhood to find the garbage truck and wave on our way out the door in the mornings. Every Thursday, my heart is full when I see the joy that our amazing garbage man brings Brooklyn when he honks and waves at her with a BIG smile.

To make Brooklyn's birthday - which, as luck would have it, was on a Thursday - extraspecial, they decided it was time they finally met their garbage collector. Brooklyn wrapped up a cupcake and waited for his arrival. When he rounded the corner of their street, Brooklyn's mom thanked him for his upbeat demeanor and acknowledged how much it meant to her daughter.

To her surprise, Delvar admitted that he, too, looks forward to their weekly visits. What he revealed next will leave you in a puddle of mush . . .

He said that he has a meeting every Thursday morning and always tries to get out of there in a hurry so that he can make sure to see us every week.

We're so glad Brooklyn got her birthday wish, and when Thursday rolls around again, we can't help but get excited about her run-in, full of honking and waving, with her "favorite awesome smiley garbage man."

Not Sure If Last Year's SPF Has Expired? Read This First

Good news: you have a beach day planned. Bad news: the only sunscreen you can find is one sand-coated bottle that might be from last year . . . or the year before. While we absolutely condone product hoarding, sun protection is one beauty area you just have to take seriously. We talked to the experts to find out just how long you can stretch that SPF. Ask yourself these questions before using that sunscreen bottle from the back of the closet:

1. Is your SPF over three years old?

"All sunscreens are designed to remain at original strength for three years," says Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank of NYC Fifth Avenue Dermatology Surgery and Laser Center. If you had your sunscreen during Juan Pablo's season on The Bachelor, it's time for a new bottle. Pro tip: next time you bring home a fresh tube, write the purchase date on the lid with a permanent marker so you know exactly when to toss.

2. Is the texture no longer smooth?

Any lumps or bumps in creamy sunscreen could mean the active ingredients are beginning to break down and become less effective. "Micronized zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, the two main ingredients in sunscreen, can clump together over time," explains Dr. Hadley King, dermatologist at Skinney Medspa. If you want an SPF with a longer shelf life, check the label for dimethicone or silica, additives that will keep your lotion stable and smooth.

3. Has the consistency changed?

When a liquid separates out from your cream, it means the ingredients have broken down and it's time for a new bottle. "Keep an eye out for white cream turning into a yellow liquid," warns Dr. Marina Peredo of Skinfluence Medical NYC.

4. Have you been keeping it somewhere warm?

As convenient as it seems to leave your sunscreen on the patio or in the trunk of your car, heat and sun exposure will eventually cause the active ingredients in SPF to break down. Keep product fresh by leaving it in a cool, dry place.

5. Do you notice any redness on your skin after application?

Sunscreen will still be effective - albeit less so - after three years, clarifies Dr. Peredo. But using the formula with deteriorating chemicals means that "you could develop a contact allergy, even though it's not necessarily harmful." If you are pinching pennies and don't want to buy a new bottle, spot-test a small area of your skin to test your reaction first.

Whether you're using a new tube or a bottle that was in your stash when Taylor Swift had long hair, apply responsibly. Dr. Peredo notes that true sun care means we shouldn't have to worry about SPF expiring, because we're using it religiously. "When outdoors, apply one tablespoon of sun protection every two hours," she advises. "Then there's no way a bottle should last more than one season - maybe two."
