10 Ways to Spend Less at CVS
CVS is (debatably) king of the modern American drugstores, with tons of shopper-friendly products and prices. We don't blame you a bit, though, if you're looking to save even MORE cash at the Consumer Value Store. Below are 10 ways you can keep your wallet happy when making the trip to this particular chain. (And while you're at it, check out our hacks for saving cash at Walgreens!)
- Enroll in the membership program. Snagging a free ExtraCare card is crucial in hoarding those additional dollars at CVS. The rewards program ensures you get the store's ExtraSavings sales on weekly select items! Simply ask to sign up at checkout.
- Keep an eye on the weekly ad. Take your membership one step further by creating an account online. This way, you can manage your ExtraCare rewards from your laptop as well as view the weekly ad and deals tailored to members.
- Use your ExtraCare Bucks. The precious ExtraCare Bucks (ECB) feature may be the breadwinner of membership perks. These "bucks" are essentially cash, and work as in-store credit. They automatically print at the bottom of your receipt, and they're issued four times per year on Jan. 1, April 1, July 1, and Oct. 1 for 2 percent back on in-store and online purchases. Qualifying items from the weekly ad will earn you ECB as well. Keep in mind they DO expire, so save your receipts and don't forget about them!
- Check the website for general deals. Even nonmembers can see an overview of deals, including printable coupons, on the website.
- Purchase discounted gift cards. You can get these convenient discounted gift cards on Gift Granny!
- If applicable, join the Veterans Advantage program. Veterans will save 20 percent every time they buy items from the online store.
- Sign up to be a CVS advisor. By taking CVS surveys a few times per year, you'll become eligible for savings and rewards. Sign up here.
- Take advantage of the coupon kiosk. Look for the in-store coupon kiosk, which will print out coupons and special offers for ExtraCare members.
- Buy more CVS brand products. Ask yourself if you really need the name-brand product that costs a couple bucks more, or if the generic CVS brand would work just as well. Usually, it's not worth the higher price!
- Download the app. The CVS app advertises app-only deals. Just link your card and swoop up those exclusive bargains!
