Wait, This Tiny Harry Potter Detail Is SO Cool and Totally Legit
The fact that J.K. Rowling is a magical goddess is quite well known by now. But the depths of the Wizarding World she created continue to be revealed . . . even after all this time. A recent fan theory circulating is about a bit of interesting foreshadowing that can be found in The Goblet of Fire. Reddit user poguemahone9 noted a correlation between the arrival of the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students to Hogwarts with the actual nature and order of the tasks performed in the Triwizard Tournament:
I did a quick search, so I really hope this hasn't been said before. The methods of arrival of the 2 schools seem to me to be foreshadowing for the Triwizard tasks. As Beauxbatons arrive, they are seen it the sky. "'It's a dragon!' shrieked one of the first years". The first task. Durmstrang arrived from the depths of the lake. The second task."
Wait. This is SO true. And then, it gets EVEN better. Commenters also brought up the fact that in Goblet, when Harry and Ron were (as per usual) bullsh*tting their Divination homework, they come up with their "prophecies" of being in danger of burns, then losing a treasured possession, then being betrayed by someone thought to be a friend.
Um . . . burns = from dragons in the First Task, losing a treasured possession = each competitor has an important person taken from them in the Second Task (Ron from Harry, Hermione from Krum, Fleur's sister Gabrielle taken from her, and Cho Chang from Diggory). Then, in the Third Task, Harry is betrayed by Moody/Barty Crouch Jr., aka "someone thought to be a friend." There's no chance that this is all a coincidence, so I'll just chalk it up to Rowling's wizardry and leave it at that.
