15 Examples of the Arthur Fist Meme That Will Have You Laughing With Tears
Most of us grew up watching Arthur, D.W., and the rest of his friends teach us how to be kind and responsible. Little did any of us know that this television show would come back in one of the best memes this year - the Arthur fist meme.
The meme is simple: take a screenshot of Arthur's clenched fist and apply any text you want with it. The fist comes from an Arthur episode where Arthur punches D.W. for breaking his toy airplane. Yes, this episode actually did happen, and though it's pretty dark, it's graced the world with Arthur's clenched fist. Twitter user AlmostJT first tweeted the image out on July 27, and since then, Arthur's become the poster child for feeling emo and upset at the world.
It's not the first time stills from Arthur have circled the internet in meme-form, but the network that runs the show is pretty upset about it. "We appreciate the memes that have been created and shared in good fun," said a spokesperson for WGBH in Boston to Entertainment Weekly. "We are, however, disappointed by the few that are outside of good taste."
