4 Details About the New Apple Watch That Will Make You Want to Get It
Almost two years since Apple announced the original Apple Watch, the company revealed the follow-up: the Apple Watch Series 2. Read all the details to see if it's finally worth investing in.
- Built-in GPS tracker: You can now leave your iPhone at home with the built-in GPS tracker available on the Apple Watch Series 2.
- Swim-proof: It has a water resistance of 50 meters. This means you can finally wear the watch when you're swimming or surfing.
- Brighter than any Apple device: The screen is now twice as bright than before, and it's the "brightest display that Apple has ever shipped."
- New material: A new material, in addition to stainless steel, is coming to the Apple Watch: ceramic. This will only be available on the Apple Watch Edition.
Everything about the new Apple Watch will of course come with watchOS 3. Plenty of new features will be available, like new watch faces, a Breathe app to help you take a moment to yourself, and an SOS app to make sure you can make an emergency call in seconds. If you're also someone who still plays Pokémon Go, the app is coming to the Apple Watch.
If all of these details have convinced you to get the latest one, you might want to check out the new styles available in the Apple Watch Hermès models. You can now get a Double Buckle Cuff in Swift and Epsom calfskin leathers or a Single Tour Deployment Buckle band.
The Apple Watch Series 2 and Apple Watch with Nike+ capabilities will cost $369; the Apple Watch Edition in ceramic is priced at $1,249. Preorders begin Sept. 9 and will arrive in stores on Sept. 16 - except for the Nike+ Apple Watch, which is out on Oct. 28. Check out photos of the new watchOS 3 in action ahead.
