Here's Everything You Need to Know About Google's Newest Phone: Pixel
At an event in San Francisco on Oct. 4, Google announced two new phones to its lineup: the Pixel and Pixel XL. The two new phones might end up being more of what you want than the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Keep reading to see all the details.
- Two phone sizes: The Pixel has a 5-inch display and the Pixel XL has a 5.5-inch display screen.
- Same camera pixels as the 6P: The rear-facing camera will stay at 12 megapixels and the front-facing camera is still 8 megapixels.
- But, the camera is insanely good: The Pixel has the highest camera rating from DxOMark, at 89. The iPhone 7 comes in at 86. It also has "zero shutter lag," so you can take photos as soon as the moment is happening.
- Your video game is about to get better: Now, the Pixel will come with video stabilization. This means even if your hands are shaking or you're in a car, the video will come out smoothly.
- Get used to Google helping you with everything: The Pixel will come with 24/7 help and comes with Google Assistant, Google Photos (unlimited high-resolution storage), Duo, and more.
- Big storage options: Both phones will have a 32-GB and 126-GB storage option.
- Pricer phones: The Pixel will retail for $649 or for $27 a month. You can buy it unlocked at the Google store or get it at Verizon stores.
- Other features: The phones will still have a rear fingerprint sensor and a USB Type C port. You can charge the phone for 15 minutes and have seven hours of battery life. Most importantly: it still has a headphone jack.
