Jennifer Lopez on Why She Thinks She Was Unfairly Labeled a Diva
Jennifer Lopez is sharing the cover of The Hollywood Reporter with some of the most powerful women in television, including Kerry Washington, Kirsten Dunst, and Julianna Margulies, and she's opening up about her career beginnings, dealing with sexist policies in Hollywood, and creating her show Shades of Blue.
In a video of the round-table conversation among the actresses released by the magazine, J Lo shares her dislike for the word diva, saying she really believes that she unfairly got the label for being a strong female in a men's industry. "I was always fascinated by how I could see [a man] being late or being belligerent to a crew and it being totally acceptable; meanwhile, I'd show up 15 minutes late and be berated," the actress, singer, and producer says in the interview. "Like, we're not allowed to have certain opinions or even be passionate about something, or they'll be like, 'God, she's really difficult.' It's like, 'Am I? Am I difficult because I care?'"
Press play above to watch J Lo talk about dealing with sexism in Hollywood, and find out what her first "extravagant" splurge was when she landed her first TV job. Once you're done, check out every single look she wore on the video for her powerful anthem "Ain't Your Mama."
