Nichole Used This Instead of Motivation to Lose 25 Pounds in 5 Months
When Nichole decided it was time to change her life, she knew it had to be something that would last. No more diets. No more quick fixes. And more importantly, no more excuses. She teamed up with Ricki, founder of Break the Weight, lost a total of 25 pounds in five months, and credits her coach for being on her team.
Before
Ricki explains, "People come to Break the Weight for weight loss, but quickly learn that it's not about the weight. It's about what that weight represents. It's about breaking what weighs them down. Nichole had a lot weighing her down and didn't need another diet. She needed a program that would teach her how to deal with what the real issues were, like the loss of her mother when she was 28, and not feeling good enough to make a real change.
Break the weight teaches people the power of consistency, accountability, and self-discipline. Breakers (that's what clients are called) are taught that it's not just about calories or focusing on the food, it's about understanding that motivation ebbs and flows.
Nichole said, "This program has been different for me, because it's truly not a diet; it's my life and you can't give up on your life. I've gained a sense of confidence by being consistent and not just depending on being motivated. You're held accountable to follow a simple daily system. You're held accountable to stick to your goals. You're held accountable to push through even on the really crappy days, that's huge. That teaches you discipline."
"I've gained a sense of confidence by being consistent and not just depending on being motivated."
Nichole has spent the last 20 weeks following a daily system of food tracking, drinking water, and walking a certain amount of steps a day. But says the most important part has been the "daily accountability and constant support."
She goes on to explain that transforming her relationship with food through Break the Weight has played a huge roll in her success. Nichole realized that "Food is not the enemy. Alcohol is not the enemy. The problem was what I was doing with it, eating and drinking excessively. The problem was and is the choices that I make. Once I started being more mindful, it was actually a lot less stressful. Choices came much more naturally to me. Ricki taught me that I was in the drivers seat."
After
What does a typical day of eating look like for you?
Breakfast: 2-egg omelet with Ezekiel toast
Lunch: Really big salad with protein or a chicken breast with a carb
Snacks: Lots of fruit, lots of almonds, and string cheese throughout the day
Dinner: Dinner varies, but I love turkey tacos, chicken, and sweet potatoes. Anything healthy! But BTW has taught me that it's about the amount you eat at night, that's what really matters. I also love wine! I have that a few times a week, but I'm smart about it.
Drinks: 2 liters of water everyday, which is a requirement on the program
"Ricki has built a program that pushes you outside your comfort zone. She encourages you while also holding you to a higher standard. Her excitement about my success along the way has made me believe in myself in a totally different way. People need that. I needed that. It's changed my life."
