The Time Liam Payne Auditioned for Future Girlfriend Cheryl Cole on The X Factor
One Direction's Liam Payne rose to fame thanks to The X Factor, and now that Payne is officially dating former judge Cheryl Cole, we can't help but revisit his audition. He was first a contestant at age 14, but Simon Cowell cut him, hoping he would return once his voice has matured more. He came back in two years later in 2010, and this is his audition. He serenaded future girlfriend Cole with Ella Fitzgerald's breakup tune "Cry Me A River." Her critique? "You've definitely got it, whatever it is that you got it," she said. "I thought your voice was really, really powerful."
