This Viral Text Message Just Proved Grandmas Are Awesome

When Jamal Hinton received a text message invite from someone claiming to be his grandmother, he wasn't sure what to believe. To make sure the person had the correct phone number, Jamal asked for a picture and what transpired is both hilarious and heartwarming.

After receiving a selfie from his "grandmother," Jamal was sure the woman had the wrong number. "You not my grandma," he replied, before spontaneously asking if he could still "get a plate" for Thanksgiving. What the sweet grandma said in response proved she has a heart of gold.

"Of course you can. That's what grandma's do...feed every one," she wrote. For now, Hinton plans on still going to the grandma's house for Thanksgiving, he told POPSUGAR. The family members of the grandma are letting Hinton know more details.

Both Hinton and the grandma, Wanda Dench, appeared on NBC Nightly News and talked about their text message exchange. They both finally met, and now Hinton's entire family is going to Dench's for Thanksgiving dinner!
