Sierra Nevada Is Recalling Its Beer For a Terrifying Reason

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has issued a voluntary recall of 12-ounce bottles of its pale ales, IPAs, and a few other beers due to a potential glass hazard. The company announced the recall after a quality inspection at the North Carolina brewery found that some of the bottles had a flaw that "may cause a small piece of glass to break off and possibly fall into the bottle," according to Sierra Nevada's website.

In addition to the company's popular pale ale, the recall includes bottles of Beer Camp Golden IPA, Sidecar Orange Pale Ale, Torpedo Extra IPA, Tropical Torpedo, Nooner, Hop Hunter IPA, and Otra Vez. The recall applies to 12-ounce bottled beers (not cans) sold in 36 states and affects beer packaged between Dec. 5, 2016, and Jan. 13, 2017, with a brewer code of "M," meaning it was packaged at the North Carolina brewery. The company estimates that this recall only affects one in every 10,000 bottles (0.01 percent), and Sierra Nevada has not received any reports of injuries.

Sierra Nevada posted a full announcement with a list of affected states, plus details on how to be compensated for recalled beer, so check it out if you've got the beer stocked in your fridge.
