What This Inspiring Teacher Does For His Students Will Restore Your Faith in Humanity
Ellen DeGeneres continues to prove she has a heart of gold. On Jan. 12, the talk show host surprised a special guest on her show, a second grade teacher at South Greenville Elementary in North Carolina. Michael Bonner has helped raise his students' test scores by creating catchy rap songs as a way to connect and get his students engaged with the learning material.
"When I came to South Greenville, the school was so bad at one point in time that we used to meet in class and pray before the day," Michael shared about his efforts to turn the poverty-stricken school around.
His teaching style has left a major impact on the kids and earned him a standing ovation from the audience, including from Ellen herself. "You are amazing," Ellen told him before delivering yet another big surprise for Michael and his students.
