This Hilarious Parody Will Help You Navigate a Politics-Free Family Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving can be stressful enough without history's most contentious election taking place a mere two weeks earlier. If you're prepping the green bean casserole while simultaneously worrying about how you and your kids will survive the day surrounded by extended family with vastly differing viewpoints, the Holderness family has some sage advice.
The adorable parents and kiddos behind our favorite viral parody videos have released a video to the tune of Flo Rida's "My House." In "Welcome to My Couch," Penn and Kim sing about a home divided, showing one family member supporting Donald Trump ("you made turkey great again!") and another proudly wearing an "I'm With Her" pin.
"Drink away your feelings, cheer at all the touchdowns, and suppress your anger," they advise. And if that's not enough, to keep cousin Bill from persuading your kids, the Holderness clan came up with a handy checklist of non-election topics to discuss:
- Brangelina – what happened there?
- Pluto's no longer a planet. That's messed up!
- The iPhone 7 doesn't have a headphone jack. What are we going to do about it?!
And if the catchy song still doesn't inspire you, the last 30 seconds of the video is an adorable montage of dogs and cats snuggling and kids hugging: "If brothers and sisters can dance together without punching each other, maybe we can all get along just for this one day."
