Why This Year's Win Is Particularly Special For the Orange Is the New Black Cast

The cast of Orange Is the New Black joined the winners list at this year's SAG Awards, earning their fourth honor for outstanding ensemble cast in a comedy series. When the huge group of actors took the stage to accept their award, it seemed like they were especially energized and giggly. When they got backstage in the press room to answer questions about the moment, one journalist asked why they were so enthralled by their win, and they apparently didn't expect to win at all! What's more, they were thrilled to have Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman) with them, because she historically hasn't been with the cast to accept. Actress Annie Golden (who ironically plays the mute Norma on the show) couldn't help but beam as she explained why this year's win was especially poignant:

"We've never had Taylor Schilling with us! She's always been working when we've had this award. So, the fact that that she had to step up, and the mood on the red carpet was so politically heavy . . . she pulled it out. That's why we were so giddy. We were like ' . . . glad it's not me.'"
