James Van Der Beek Praises His Wife and the "Absurdly Stigmatized" Act That Is Breastfeeding

On Wednesday, families all over the country celebrated the news that it's finally officially legal to breastfeed in all 50 states, but before the news even broke, James Van Der Beek gave a special shout-out to his wife and all breastfeeding mothers. The 41-year-old Dawson's Creek actor and his wife, Kimberly, recently welcomed their fifth child, Gwendolyn, and although James frequently shares heartfelt posts about his family, this one was for the mamas out there.
"#Breastfeeding moms everywhere... we salute you ✌️," he captioned the selfie of his wife nursing. It didn't take long before James offered even more praise, immediately adding a comment for all moms. "Non-breastfeeding moms. . . we salute you, too ❤️. Just trying to do our part to normalize a natural, beautiful human behavior that has been, at times, absurdly stigmatized."
James has done an incredible job of showing his followers a raw and realistic view of fatherhood, especially as a father of five. Between the at-home birth photos, the unfiltered placenta bowl, and so much more, it's safe to say nothing is off limits for his 491K followers. Read on to see all the painfully adorable photos that James has shared of his newborn daughter, and then, check out all the celebrity dads who redefine the word "daddy."
