This New Horror Film Looks Like the Perfect Mix Between Stranger Things and Disturbia

A group of young kids biking around their neighborhood in the '80s, falling in love for the first time, and discovering a horrifying secret about their small town all set to a pumping synth soundtrack . . . sounds like Stranger Things, no? Well, it's also the premise for Summer of '84, which looks like a nostalgic entry into the slasher genre this year.

The film, directed by Roadkill Superstar (RKSS for short) - aka the name for Canadian directors François Simard, Yoann-Karl Whissell, and Anouk Whissell - follows four teenage friends who begin to suspect that their police officer neighbor (GLOW's Rich Sommer) is a serial killer. Naturally, they take it upon themselves to figure it out, which leads to spying on him, going on dangerous missions to gather evidence, and some life-or-death situations. (Raise your hand if you're getting some Disturbia vibes, too.)
